The narrator was wonderful and a great voice. And the story was intriguing. Then about 3/4 of the way in the main character suddenly becomes absolutely terrible and ridiculously short sighted. All in all I'd skip it.
I really enjoyed this book, I got stuck into it and didn't want to stop listening.
The accent by Steven did put me off as I wanted to hear an Irish accent (the next lot of books make up for it). But I understand now.
This was a great book. I hope the character appears again in some of the other books.
To ambiguous of an ending, however very thoughtful interior storyline not bad for a road trip. I don't know why The main character had a wife if the author intended on not using her, and playing the main character in single situations
I listen to a lot of audiobooks, but this was the first one with a reader who had an accent. It was difficult to pay attention at first because of it, but it got easier. I was disappointed in how the story went because I kept thinking I would eventually find out more about the story within the story and I'm not satisfied at all. The first few lines were great though, a very interesting way to begin a story. I kept thinking the book would end and when I would look to see how far along I was I was always surprised. I think I picked up that accent a little by the time I finally finished. I know this is a series now, but I didn't when I first purchased this book. So I'm a little eager to see if I will enjoy the next one. If I don't end up liking it then I probably won't continue the series.
Overall, like I said, I was disappointed, but maybe that's exactly how I was supposed to feel.
You will give this book 20 hours.
For the first two you will be pleased.
For he next two you will be excited.
For the next two you will be engrossed.
For the next two you will be enthralled.
Then you'll start to wonder.
Then you'll start to doubt.
Then you'll start to dread.
Then you'll be outraged you gave this book 20 hours.
Yes, it is fairly well written with some things I see as flawed, but still, highly engrossing and entertaining.
When Det. Ryan explains about his apt. & roommate, mostly because I found it improbable & annoying. Why didn't he just move?
Good voice; nicely modulated, but I was put off by the fellow's interpretation of the voices and the emphasis placed on words & phrases. He was a bit over the top at times, and did not seem to understand female voices at all.
No, it is not a "moving" sort of plot.
Good book and worth the listen in spite of the somewhat annoying narrator.
A few chapters in a guessed who did it and at the end of the book they say I shouldn't have seen it coming... But I did... So It was just a little predictable in my opinion. Although the inconclusive ending makes me want to read the next book. Overall a good read.
I'm going to be brief and offer no spoilers. This is a really good audio book. It is a masterful story which the reader performs well. That is a much more difficult combination than is readily apparent. It seems like all of the negative reviews I have read are negative because the story wasn't predictable. I don't want or need a predictable story. I couldn't put this one down.
This was the slowest crime story I've ever listened too. It was painfully slow and had a horrible ending. Don't waste your time.
