This was my first Audible Western and I enjoyed the descriptive story of the pretty blond outcast and the big tough cowboy who saved her and took her in. The story was realistic and although the descriptions were graphic, they were a little verbose. Overall an action-packed suspenseful yarn with a good ending.
Part one of this book was pretty good. Part two paid too much attention to sex and not enough attention to the storyline. I had to fast forward through most of the second part. The only reason I kept listening was to see the conclusion of the plot that was set forth in part one, but was sadly disappointed when the book ended without resolving any of the plot issues.
I loved this book and can not wait for the next
Hells Eight. Hopefully Audible will add the next one to their selection!!!
A good story laced with sex. I can't wait for more titles of the Hells Eight. In fact I feel there were a few loose ends that still need to be tied up....looking forward to it.
Worst book I've ever read! Charactors were good, storyline good, but instead of elaborating on the story spent whole time on sex. A little sex is good but page after page of it is anoying and boring!
I am the first to say, reviews don't always match my taste. A book can get a bad review but I still like it. This book left me .. "eh." It has tons of explicit sex (for me it wasnt romantic type, more graphic sex) and I just couldn't get into the story. It could be as well, I am not too into westerns. It just seemed .. depressing to me through most the book, it about a lot of abuse and getting past it. So I am not deterring from any one reading it, I am sure many will enjoy this book, but it just wasn't my style. I don't review much but this one I would like to warn is of pretty mature nature.
In a nutshell, without any real spoilers (but may-be a little sarcasm): The poor heroine is a little traumatized from being kept as a sex slave for months (or was it years). She escapes but is about to become the victim of further debauchery when she's rescued by the men of Hells Eight. Caine marries her to keep her away from her "guardian" (read pimp). Caine then strives to "instruct" her in the real art of "love," which involves the HIGHEST, most pleasurable form of it - anal sex. Yes, I kid you not.
The overall story wasn't bad, and I usually like sexy times. They can be explicit as long as they are not crude. But Ms. McCarty has such a fixation on anal sex (it wasn't just in this book), as the ultimate sexual experience, it was a real turn off. Offensive.
Good story line. The concept is great, but author put far too much sex in, and it wasn't even good sex!
The narrarator sucked she sound like she Reba Mcentire when she says wwhhyy.
The story was so slow I wanted to listen to something else not a western where sugar cubes where like gold and women in the story are victims of human trafficking and turned into whores ( don't get excited PG book). Finally the end was near an it had a cliff hanger on the main characters twin sister, so I skipped a couple of books to Trackers story and it wasn't like I missed anything because that book caught you up. and it has a way better narrator.
It was predictable heroine and her hero.
She sounded like a child and I was so glad she was replaced in later series.
No to blaring I listen while cleaning. This book was mostly PG.
