Listening is better than reading in this case because of all the different characters, and the fact the man performing / reading the book changes is voice for each character.
I know no other book like or even close to what 'The HitchHiker's Guide to the Galaxy' is.
Probability of you loving this movie is 100%
You can't not enjoy this book!
Zany story with fantastic narration.
While Star Wars was happening in another galaxy, this uhhhhh happened...
Simply, the beginning, on Earth.
For serious people only...
Fun story, great narrator, impossible characters. Jiggly, man!
a Tech Exec who loves the stories about what could be and what should have been. Mixed with histories told from an outside perspective.
I waited a while for this to go on sale after I bought the last book in the series...and finally brokedown and just used one of my monthly credits to buy it...I am glad I did. So much of the classic Sci-Fi humor was missing from the movie, the Story was every bit as satisfying as I remembered it in my teens. The naration was to par for the content of the book. I am glad I made the purchase...now on to the the Resturant at the end of the Universe.
I have to say I've read the book at least 2 times myself and it's always been one of my favorites. Having Stephen Fry read it to me made it that much better. He does a wonderful job of presenting the story and each character in a delightful and charming way. He is well aware of the humor and how it should be presented. I can't help but think Mr. Fry is a fan of not just the work but the BBC mini series as well. His characterizations are much like those in the mini series. If you haven't read The Guide, I highly recommend this version and if you have read the book and just want an excuse to get the audio book, do it! It's well done.
I would like for Mr. Fry to do the other books in the series!
The narrator definitely brings across the sarcasm and humor in the story. A very entertaining listen.
Stephen Fry's performance is perfect, it brings the story to life. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a classic and should be next to Gulliver's Travels in everyone's library.
I simply love how Stepen Fry reads this book. And it is a bless to be abel to listen to this story told bay Mr. Fry.
I can not hide that I love Ford Prefekt, if m personality had bin casted as a charecter I would end up as Ford. And I would love his job.
When Arthur and Ford get piced up bay the Vogons. And Prostetnik wants to trow them out in to the open space.
I would recommend this book for all that have an interest in sifi and siens.
I listen to this more than any other book. Too often I have felt more like Arthur Dents Towel in life. I recall this was a staple even on tape, back in the 80's when I was still doing conventions. I also like that it was Stephen Fry who did this one.
The mice. It was just too damn funny that they are really 'pan dimensional beings doing experiments on us.
Yes. But then I never actually read the book all in one sitting either, I couldn't; laughing for that long you have to take a break.
still rockin' w/o a chair
Yes, it's just plain funny! Interestingly cool SciFi elements smothered with impeccably timed sarcasms and whit.
The entire scene and explanation of Vogon poetry is just one of many.
No, but he was very good. I think he shows that this was meant to be heard originally and brings this out in the material.
Every time I realized I was actually laughing out loud.
Even it you have read this material you owe it to yourself to hear it as well.
