When I listen to audio books, I tend to get easily distracted because of traffic and such. And with most books I can easily get back into the story without missing much. This book was not an easy listen. I have no idea what was going on. There were some pretty funny parts, but by the end I was just so confused.
I may just pick up the book and read it. Maybe I will understand it a little better.
This book was always on my list to read 'someday', but the movie spurred me into getting it this time. My Next Listen list now includes the rest in the series. It's uncanny some of the things that have come about (PDA, virtual reality) and some of the others that have not, yet.
All you can say about Hitchhiker's books is WOW. plus it is a real thril to D. A read them him self. It is just the kind of thing he would love. Reading his books to you after he is dead. just great!!!!!!
It's not your fault you didn't like this book or like this movie. This is part of the way the world works in that everything is based on a variety of personalities, and those personalities are created based on your childhood, which of course is almost completely random, in the fact that you don't choose your parents, and you grow up in an environment that is completely unknown....yet eventually you gain some intelligence and you find out about stuff, so then because you become a little more aware and responsible for your own thoughts, thus you come to realize the truth of some movies that you didn't understand before. the question is, why. the answer might be inbedded in your sense of humor. at least is the case for the current movie we are discussing of which if you feel annoyed by this review then your sense of humor is probably based on your patience which is more than likely low because you were not given time as a child to develope a sense of humor. A sense of humor comes from being able to stand back and judge any given incident with a sense of confidence, having been in this situation before and at this point can now laugh at it. Even if you have not been in this situation before, you can pretend, or try to imagine yourself in that situation, and pretend to laugh at it. If you find that you cannot laugh at the situation and you finally have become so bored and frustrated that you are so tired of reading the document that tells how to have a sense of humor, then you might be better to buy an audio book, where you just have to close your eyes and listen. Let your mind do the walking.
if you can like this, you'll like this book.
I Like scifi-fantasy, non-fiction, historical fiction genres. Liked Wot, Got, Pillars of Earth, Century trilogy. Last read: Maritan. luvd it
I read this book as a hiatus to my serious fictional reading. It was a good break. The characters and the story are very creative, no doubt, but it's not that comically funny or maybe it's me. It's definitely great for kids/teens to build their creative/imaginative minds.
I didn't feel there was any point to the book. There was no character to whom I could connect. The story was very disjointed.
Excellent performance. Fry's narration was good, i.e. distinct enunciation and good varied tonal qualities for varying characters.
Disappointment and frustration about my wasted time.
I just couldn't get into this story the way it was written and the narrator was hard to listen to. I couldn't force myself to finish the book.
I want my money back!
This rendition is delicious. If you have never read this book, listen to this audible book instead of reading it. It's absolutely wonderful.
