Great story, but you can probably find a better audiobook version of it.
Stephen Fry does an adequate job in the beginning of the book of giving all characters their own voice, but at the end of it all characters ware read the same as the narration.
The audiobook only has 5 chapters, even though the book has 35. So annoyingly, allot of book chapters are squeezed into the audiobook chapters. There's also no pause between the end of an audiobook chapter and the start of the next one. The first time it happened I thought something was wrong with the player and it had skipped part of the story.
In conclusion, read/listen to the story. But find another audiobook version of it
I am a language arts coach, studying to be a high school English teacher. Reading is what I do and audible makes it easier!
Douglas Adams is witty and too funny for his own good! This book is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys life, the universe and everything! It's a sci-fi spoof and an intelligent story to say the least.
The silly approach to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy makes it incredibly appealing. I enjoy Sci-fi but will always choose fantasy first. Douglas Adams knows his audience and mocks the genre and reader even as he crafts a story to interest them.
Stephen Fry: what's not to like? He's fantastic!
Yes and I believe I did. Fry's reading was captivating!
Check it out. It's funny and well done! If you enjoy laughter, silly sci-fi, and mocking life, the universe and everything, this is the book for you!
If you are new to the mind of Douglas Adams you are in for a treat, and if you are a long-time fan as I am then you are still in for a treat as this wonderfully imaginative story is brought to life by a masterful actor and long time friend of Adams.
No. the authors version yes but not this one.
I love Stephen fry as an actor and comedian, but as a narrator he falls short. This a rewritten work aka abridged. If you love the original stay away the differences combined with frogs narration is annoying enough to remind you of that nice piece of sand under your eye lid that you cant get rid of.
Always a good listen. Narrator did a fabulous job. One of the best I've heard. Love Douglas Adams! The end.
