For so many years, I have been a fan of Sandra Brown - at one point, she was my favorite author. However, her last couple of books have been disappointments. I barely made it through Smoke Screen. I felt like I was listening to a Harlequin Romance with enough trash talk to give it an R rating. I kept looking at the time to find out when it would end. It was predictable and boring. Although I usually like this narrator, his southern accent made the hero seem like a redneck.
Entertaining story with a great narrator. It's a step above the usual Sandra Brown romance/suspense- a more complex plot with good surprises.
Sassy dialogue, humor, and a great reader are important to me.
This one smokes! I re purchased through audible as it is ez on I pod. I have listened to this one many times. Full version of White Hot is about the only one better. Audible, you really should try to get the full Victor Slezak read version. Fans are missing out. You got Envy and Hello Darkness, White Hot beats both of those books.
Lethal, same hunky character which Victor makes yummy
I have all of his SB performances...he is more $$$ but no one does SB characters better!
He makes all the heros "sexy as all get out" none better.
I do listen to all of SB books read by Victor in one sitting. Hence, I have to re listen another time to catch all the clues given by SB to figure out the who done character.
if you are a SB fan, this is one you must not miss. I buy all of SB Books read byVictor Slezak. None will disappoint read by him. Rainwater will break your heart
The story was entertaining enough, it kept me listening with interest. It all comes together nicely at the end with a surprise too! Perhaps a little too nicely though, and the gratuitous sex at the end was not really necessary.
This book just kept getting better and better with each chapter. Several twists and I love when the author gives you a "Screaming out loud YES" moment. She had several in this one. As always Victor Slezak was masterful with his narration. I don't want these books to end because of his way to make a book 100 times better.
Also one of Sandra Brown's best endings. Some of them are not quite the way you'd want to end a story. This one is one of her best ever.
I've read Play Dirty, Envy, Mean Streak, Breath of Scandal, which are some of her best.
My new favorite Sandra Brown novel. Oh my!!! This book was so well written. I really felt like I knew these characters. It had action and suspense. I didn't want this one to end!!
Narration was excellent. Brought the characters to life and gave them personalities and soul.
I've been on a Sandra Brown "kick" lately & this was her best yet! Having read/listened to 10 or so in the last few months, I can rate this with many plots to compare it with. I have loved all of them, but Smoke Screen was especially well written! With every plot twist and surprise, Ms. Brown kept me intrigued to the very end! Loved, loved, loved this story & I am so glad I chose to enjoy it through Audible and S&S's uncanny ability to pull a person into the story through brilliant narration!
