"It was good, just..."
Not as good as Running with Scissors. Slower, less interesting storyline. He's a great story-teller and writer. Worth getting.
"At Least He Admits Being Self Absorbed"
I finished reading this because I was hoping for some growth or redemption -- a learning experience that will turn this person into a true contributor to betterment of the human condition.
Didn't happen. Self-absorbed, hedonistic, pathetic. At least someone loves him. At least he has no intention of procreating or parenting the next generation. At least he was honest with us.
"Magical Listening"
I wasn't sure what to expect when I got this book. But It proved to be interesting, entertaining and thought provoking. You really get to see things from another side of the coin. If you think you have had an interesting life, you will think again when you have heard this book.
"Excellent non-fiction"
Bright, funny, observant, literate, and lyrical. Burroughs is brilliant. When I want non-fiction, he and David Sedaris can make me laugh even on the cloudiest of days, while simultaneously making me think of things in new and different ways. Truly one of the most clever and thoughtful writers of our time. A writer I'd love to sit and shoot the bull with.
"Never even gets off the ground"
I didn't think this book was funny or remotely interesting. I was stuck on a plane with nothing to do and I couldn't get past the first hour.
"Gave up after 45 minutes"
Got through the Tang commercial without a chuckle and couldn't stand it any more. Dull humor.
"I couldn't get past the mouse chapter"
I've listened to his other books and enjoyed them a lot. I can't say the same about this book. The entire chapter about trying to kill the mouse with bug killer bothered me so much that I had to stop listening. It wasn't funny.
"ha ha ha"
i agree some of the reviews must be from homophobes and the others from peta characters because the murder of the rat thang was the best part of the book HAHAHA
