I was a little let down with this one book from the BDB series. Unfortunately Phury was a little Blah, and his mate was not the kind of individual I would have thought to win his heart. However the back story to the other brothers make up for the tedious to and fro between Phury and Cormia. However even though I struggled through this, I am a committed Ward fan, not sure I like the direction she is taking the brothers but still keen to see what happens next.
Bona Fide Reflections
Well, this story is quite a ride. I have listened to it twice now. Upon my second listening, I realized the purpose of this book is to set up many stories to be realized later by the author (i.e. Rhvenge's story, Quinn and Blay's relationship, John and Xhex's story, Payne's story, and much more.). I would definitely dub this book as a "bridge." My only disappointment was that there was not a lot of time spent on Phury and Cormia. In the listening time that was given to the couple, Phury was able to iron out personal issues, as well as Cormia. However, the tone of this book was a lot different than previous books in this series.
If you are introducing yourself to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, this is NOT the book to begin your endeavors in this regard. I highly recommend you listen to Dark Lover and commence to the subsequent books in sequential order.
Happy Listening from Bona Fide Reflections!
Of all the current 7 Black Dagger Brotherhood installments, this book totally wore me out! I found myself fast forwarding where I haven't with the other books in the series.
Not my favorite, but you must read in order to track the continual story line. J.R. Ward's writing is so intelligent and captivating.
Must read COVET & CRAVE before Brotherhood book 8 comes out the end of March, 2011. Ward intertwines characters from the Brotherhood into this FABULOUS series. J.R. Ward has never disappointed.
Liked this one least of all but it wasn't a bad one. Mostly, this book was slow. The story line wasn't just of Phury but all the other characters developing so that the rest of the books in the series also make sense. For that reason alone, it wasn't the high action, let's kick some butt and have a "female" didn't work so well.
Was definitely nice to explore into Phury and his serious psychological issue(s). As with the rest of the series, the male has problems although Phury's was the worst of all but Z. But, as always the female saves her male.
Loved it. Very hot and steamy. Some harsh language thru out the series and some graphic killing scenes, but if that does not bother you I recommend the series.
I have a very fast paced life. Audio books are an awesome alternative for me. Long road trips, working out and housework arn't a bore.
I have seen reviews where some are disappointed in the outcome. Not even. This is unpredictable, fascinating and hot.
