I read equal parts NF + F: (Follet + Tolstoy + Hillenbrand + Monk Kidd + Preston+Child), practical, hands on guides, + KidLit.
I was pleasantly surprised by how well-written this was. The characters were well-developed and consistent, the plot was tight, and the voice, although not strong or distinct, was clear. I could even buy into the crazy vampire names like Wrath and Torment. The book was a little heavy on the sex scenes for my tastes, but seemed appropriate for the characters. I would recommend this book to those who enjoy vampire literature and men with a hardcore, primitive nature.
The narrator did a great job but the cover of the book was confusing for me. The main vampire character is supposed to have longer black hair and the lead female is also supposed to have thick, dark, wavy hair and be a real beauty.
I just may pick up the next book in the series...
At first it took me a few minutes to give the moderator a chance. His voice is so distinctive and usually I prefer women readers. But Jim Frangione was simply incredible once I adjusted a bit to the style. The story is addictive. I have recommended this story to 9 friends and ALL of them adored it - and we are totally enjoying talking about the series together. Its easy to fall in love with the characters, the women are strong or are learning fast and the dialogue is quite funny and fun. Sexy, funny and a great story - what's not to love? Cannot wait till the next one - not coming out till March of 2013 - its in the calendar!
Yes, definitely. I read the series in paperback a few years ago. After recently joining Audible, I bought a couple fairly long books (80+ hours of listen time) and then decided to dive in to a familiar series with shorter books. I love the length of these novels along with the awesome story line. It's a great take on a vampire romance. It's steamy, well written, and not totally predictable.
Unlike some previous reviewers, I didn't really care for his narrating. I felt like it was kind of robotic a lot of the time and didn't really convey the text how I originally read it. I would never seek out another book solely based on him being the narrator, but I wouldn't eliminate a book in my lineup because he is the narrator either.
So far this ranks high in the books I've listened to. I usually listen to romance only, but this book has a good mix of romance, drama, excitement, it certainly keeps you on the edge.
Wrath, he sounds powerful, handsome and extremely inteligent and most of all so devoted and in love with Elizabeth. Wow, where do you find such men in real life:)
Perfect title, can't come up with anything more appropriate for a vampire lover.
THE BEST THUS FAR
Wrath....I loved how as powerful he was, he was able to open up and love the woman "vampire" with his soul.
Butch....he was a clueless tough guy
Zsadist....he just needs to be loved
Oh!! my yes!! the story grabs you and you are can't break free... "MUST HEAR MORE!!!"
They all make the story hold you ..so not just one can be picked out.. as it should be with a great book.
I did read the book as well as listen... they are both excellent.. but having a voice brings it alive for you!!! He does a great job!!!
It makes you "FEEL"" that covers it all for why you read or listen to a book.
I have read the whole series and truelly enjoyed them... but to be able to listen to them is a great way to really get deeper into the people as well as the good and bad thing... show you that what you might think is "bad" not always is the way things are..
I'm not usually a fan of vampire stories, but I didn't mind at all within the context of this story. It wasn't Twilight-ish at all.
It's about a group of men who are so masculine & brutal yet passionate for each other and their women. Love this!
Great to hear this book read by a deep male voice. After all it is about a brotherhood.
Can't wait to read every book that follows in this series!!! Addicted!
Yes he is consistently good.
Got the first book on sale and it was so good I had to buy all the others available right away. If you like paranormal romance you'll love this series.
