This wasn’t exactly a zombie book like I thought, but it’s really good. I listened to the audio book which was really well put together and a fun listening (but don’t do it while you’re eating). It’s got a lot of gore but the story sticks together really well and the characters interesting. I highly recommend this!
The production value is great!
Entertaining Beyond Belief
My favorite character was Perry Dawson. Seeing his decent into madness and how he responded was fascinating.
That super cool sound effect between chapters and the sound of the aliens' voices
Perry Dawson was my most memorable character. The mental conversations he had with the infection were scary, funny, chilling, and thrilling all at the same time.
To the right person, yes. It is very violent and very awesome!
Beware earbud and headphone users! This book startled the hell outta me! Sounds and voices come outta nowhere and mug your brain.
This guy has got to be one of my favorite writers of all time. I remember getting the "podiobook" version of this years ago and falling in love with the story and the voice! If you don't mind the graphic violence, and love good science fiction, you'll love this book as well as most of his others!
Love a good book with a great storyline, read by a captivating voice.
i would recommend this to friend if they had a strong gag reflex. I did really enjoying this book tho there is a cast of great charecters that draw you in and wanting more and hoping for the best in a bad situation. i am def going to have to give the rest of this series a read. And please be careful if you are going to eat and listening to this at the same time, no seriously it has it's moments few and far between when it's got some grisly descriptors. Give it a go.
The story itself from where I left off, I didn't finish the book, was rather good so far but I couldn't take Scott Sigler's narrating anymore. He would constantly almost cut off what people were saying and one the main characters he tried to give them the voice of Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead and it just pissed me off cause it was horrible. If this book had a new narrator, I would have definitely been able to finish it but I just couldn't take it anymore past the 3 hour mark.
The narrator (also the author) gave a sort of weird combination of both over acting and underacting with very little variety. What variety there was seemed more like caricatures as opposed to characters. I'm on the edge of returning the book, it's so hard to listen to.
Please Authors, hire professionals.
Professional woman, reading constantly
I am having a love/hate relationship with this book. I hated it's descriptive, disgusting nature but also found it to be a page burner.........so go figure.
Giving it 4 stars on the notion that the folks that are reading this review ALREADY like really creepy books, and I would definitely recommend it. However, if by chance, you get an upset stomach or a bit queasy when reading bloody and gorey stories, close this book and move on to another, more light hearted story. This one will definitely gross you out. Just when I thought I'd seen it all, up pops the weirdest and nastiest of all body-snatchers and Ziegler has spared nothing with his description.
The only thing that bothered me with this book was the voice used for Margaret.......bothersome, too fast and it just didn't do the character justice. Hope that changes in future books.
I thought it was it nice to hear the author narrate the whole book with characters.
one problem I had was the sound in-between chapters. After a while it just became annoying...every chapter, or every change of scenes...Boinnggggg
Anyone else!! This narrator sounds very inexperienced. He is sing songy, all his sentences ending with a down lilt. The voice of Margaret is the worst hispanic accent I've ever heard Even the southern accent of Dew makes him sound goofy instead of smooth & dangerous.
I am finding their voices distracting from the story. Scott Sigler is an awesome writer, but a narrator he is not!
