while scotts performance is not all that, the story is great.
Sometimes making my stomach want to turn in horror.
A very unique experience overall but not found recommended for everyone.
Decent sci fi story- different twist on the usual, fun to listen to. I almost passed this up because normally when authors narrate their own work it's notoriously bad. Siegler is a real bonafide narrator though-he could make a living doing just that. So I thought that was pretty darn cool.
Story started out good. But went downhill. The alien twist was frustrating and the narration was not the best. I won't get the next one. Also found the authors description of some characters demeaning and cruel.
Gotta give him credit, the narration was terrible but he's a writer not a narrator...he rushed through the sentences and the character voices were terrible BUT the story plot was GREAT. I'm looking forward to trying the next book although I pray he can nab RC Bray to narrate it this time.
A little vulgar but fairly warned. I was on the edge of my seat, enthralled with the story. The author narrating was a special treat. I loved the sound effects and different voices.
The best part about this audiobook is that the author narrates it himself. It is easy to understand his intended tones and inflections and it makes for a compelling- if unrealistic - horror remniscent of a tasty mix of HP Lovecraft, 1950/60s Drive-in, B movie monsters, and modern Da Vinci Code-esque rapid pace, anticipation, and suspense. Overall quite impressed and glad this poppedup on my recommendation list.
