The story wasn't that bad, but the narration and "special effects" just killed it.
My taste differs from kid books to gory horror books.
FEED US, WE HUNGRY
NO BOUT A DOUT IT, this is gory. There is a part where this guy cuts both his legs off, that will probably never leave my memory. That is only one of very many. At first I thought this was going to be very silly. The writing as a whole and in the beginning are not real professional. Sigler's ability to make you cringe and to tell an interesting story and to tie all the loose ends together are uncanny. Amongst all the gore, there is a mystery, a very intriguing mystery, that keeps you reading. Things said and done early on, start to make a lot more sense towards the end.
SOMEONE'S KNOCKING AT THE DOOR,
A few problems kept this from being a five star. As already mentioned the writer seems a little less polished in parts, a good editor was needed. I got tired of the, I was abused by my dad theme (not too original). Towards the end of the book, he even seems to approve of abusive fathers. Scott is a better narrator then a lot of author narrator, he does good voices, but the main narration part, is very boring at times. A good professional narrator could have made these parts more interesting. Course, a good editor would have eliminated a lot of these parts to begin with.
LET THEM IN
This book is worth your consideration, if you are not bother by gore and bad language. I know that I will listen to the sequel.
Get rid of the idiotic sound effects, amateur female character vocalizations, is there anyone reading a book with such a small imagination they don't know what a door knock sounds like. There was a knock on the door (SFX door knocking sound) We don't need this distraction. These are audio books not radio versions of movies. People who listen to audio books are still readers at heart, trust your audience.
I know this author pod casts his books and I can forgive the weird female voices but I bet he didn't add sound effects and heavy metal music to his pod casts. If he did at least you're getting them for free.
It was a very good story with a credible SF foundation and the author structured his story very well. Read the printed version or Kindle version.

I very much enjoyed Noctural by him. The reader was very competent and I cared about the characters. Not so much in this one.
The fact that I enjoyed a different book by him. There was no character in the book I cared about. Much was made about the female doctor being not good enough for the big time BUT she was hot and frequently imagined having sex with her bodyguard. Seriously?
Stereotypical. Annoying. Rough.
A bunch of the repetitive science. Tell me once and I get it, you don't have to keep telling me the same thing. Use that space to make me care about at least one character.
I do recommend Noctural by this author. It was great.
This book was totally enjoyable and creepy but just loved it - became a huge Scott Sigler fan and have read everything but love this one the most. I keep hearing the "feed me..." in my head all the time. I tell everyone about this book! Just loved it.
Scott Sigler is a pure inspiration. For those that want to comment on his voices for character;
1) He puts out ALL his own stuff, he writes and records and posts it to his site, and has new stuff out weekly 2)Do you think you could do better? Thought not.
Sigler is GREAT at what he doese, he realy grabs you by the face and throws you into the story, from a fast paced intense thrill ride of a story line, to well developed and realistic characters.
If you're into Zombie/Infectious Disease/ What If Sci Fi horror, this is a must have, and check out his other books too!
Aliens using human hosts is not a new idea. The visible, unmitigated violence seems to somehow be ignored by all but the lone, mousey female scientist that suddenly becomes an unstoppable force in the nick of time to save the planet.
There, now that just saved you all 11 hours of time better spent on new ideas, cleverly portrayed. This book is fine if you're a freshly pubescent male, not so sure about the rest of us.
Read for review and found myself laughing out loud listening to Perry and his bff, I really enjoyed learning about them and their friendship. Storyline is original but became pretty strange and far fetched after the first half. The narration did not help matters. I don't usually read fiction read by the author because they're never as good as they think they are. Weird enough for me to stick with it to the end and look at other books by Mr Sigler!
I work in IT, I love reading, I love Writing and for those daily travels too and fro I love to listen to Audible books too
Scott Sigler writes and narrates this great story. Character development is excellent. Narration is excellent.
The story is way out there, great imagination and has me finishing this review quickly so I can listen to book 2. Which is what speaks volumes of a great book.
One fun piece, Mr Sigler is right about the girl voices... To understand that you have to hear his comments at the end of the book.
I am not sure what I thought I was going to be listening to but it was pretty good. I read the reviews and was expecting a little more creepy but in all it was interesting. The characters were good and the author did a great job narrating. This book will give you a huge dose of sci fi if that's what you're looking for.
