I don't give spoilers
I have to give Scott Sigler high marks I would of never considered audio books without him and a Zune hd. Not being a reader type, I got a Zune to watch movies at work and it's podcast folder made me curious and I found his podcast novels and fell in love with audio books. Anyways great books Infected, Contagious and soon to be released Pandemic are about aliens trying to take over, I don't do spoilers so I'll leave it at that. The Sig all so narrates all his work and does a great job at it.
Scott takes you to a place in your mind so you can experience all the action as if you were there, this is the best book of this type I have read in the past 3 years. I recommend you give it a try I know you will not be disappointed at all.
My GOD. In 12 years membership with Audible I have acquired 846 audiobooks. Some have had bad narrators. But never so bad as to make me cringe. Sigler has a great voice, and in the beginning I thought all was well-for a few seconds. His voices are like fingernails on a blackboard. Seriously, I have listened to 846 Audible audiobooks, all unabridged and this is so bad I want to cry. The narration destroys this great story, which I read and loved. The narration may make you as sick as the disease in the book.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Aliens using human hosts is not a new idea. The visible, unmitigated violence seems to somehow be ignored by all but the lone, mousey female scientist that suddenly becomes an unstoppable force in the nick of time to save the planet.
There, now that just saved you all 11 hours of time better spent on new ideas, cleverly portrayed. This book is fine if you're a freshly pubescent male, not so sure about the rest of us.
A complete rewrite by another author. The basic concept was interesting, but there was nothing else redeeming about it.
No. He had a decent idea which he ruined with a ton of gratuitous gore.
His female voices were so comically ridiculous, I kept thinking that he patterned them after old Monty Python skits. Who allowed this guy to narrate? I thought that I had heard the worst narrators on Audible, but this guy is beyond belief.
There weren't any characters worth keeping. They were all caricatures and stock personalities.
The story is really just an opportunity for the writer to live out his sick fantasies, misogyny and right-wing nutjobbery.
I went into this book thinking it was a zombie type story. It’s not a zombie story but once I got into it, I liked it. It has some pretty disgusting moments in the book. Overall I would recommend this book. If anything to get to the second book which is just AWESOME!
As someone who grew up reading Robert E. Howard novels or other graphic yet intelligent novels like Rogue Roman or Aztec this "Infected" by Scott Sigler made me feel like I was listening to classicly written modern pulp fiction.
The story is fun, and the character development builds up good suspense. I couldn't wait to get the sequel (Contagious) after finishing this.
I enjoyed this book very much once it got going. The voices of the triangles gave me the chiils at some parts. I look forward to more from this author.
Let's face it, these authors aren't paying me, so there's no need to lie!!
I stopped listening after the first three hours, which was probably longer than I should've given this one. The narrator is ridiculous, and tries too hard to give each "character" their own voice. Also, the story is just slow as hell at times, almost as though the author is too consumed in how clever he thinks he is. Pass on this one. "Day By Day Armageddon" is where you need to go, if you're looking for a TRULY CLASSIC Zombie story!
I am enjoying the story line and the gore-filled details but the narriation is horrible. The character voices are so bad it distracts from the substance. The author should of simply read it without trying so hard to maintain different voices for each character. His voice itself is nice but his female characters and main CIA agent are unbearable.
