Absolutely! The story line was great and the performance of the narrator was fantastic. I really enjoyed it.
She did a great job bringing the characters to life. She kept the attitudes, voices, accents and dialects diverse. I could always tell which character she was speaking for and it made the book that more enjoyable.
Yes. I love books, but hearing the story just helps to bring the characters to life in a way that reading alone does not always do. This narrator is excellent at drawing me in.
The upstairs room when all H*** breaks loose! What action! Love it!
I like that the performance is seamless. He slid from male to female and from accent to accent without a hitch and without breaking my concentration on the story.
All the moments between Talon and his sister, especially the last one.
I love this series, and I have found myself owning both the books and the audiobooks. That takes a lot for me, so way to go Sherrilyn. I may be broke, but keep em coming!
Yes i love the series
Not as good of a narrator as a hoped but story was great
Absolutely!! Truthfully, I am more of a Fred Berman and Holter Graham fan but Carrington did a great job. I especially liked Talon's accent. She kept me interested in the story and she really did Sunshine justice in terms of making her come to life as a character. Her accent threw me a little but it wasn't distracting.
The most memorable ASPECT of this book wasn't a "moment" at all, it was Talon as a character. I have read Night Embrace so many times it's sad. Of all the 30 plus novels that Ms. Kenyon has written and I've read, Talon has been and will probably remain my most favored. Believe it or not, I named my son after this character. I was pregnant when I first read the book and it stayed with me. The way that Ms. Kenyon constructed him as a character, as a MAN, just completely captured me. He was noble, strong, loyal, empathtic, intelligent, insightful and brave. He was also flawed, vulnerable and right on the cusp of being a womanizer. Mostly though, he was a proud warrior that loved/protected his family and valued his woman! Apparently, he was also an awesome lover. Those intimate scenes were no joke. Seeing as though I did name my son after this character, I try not to think about that too much. :-)
Interesting, versatile and pleasant.
I could but when I am truly enjoying an audiobook, I like to drag it out because I become so caught up and invested in the characters that I don't want to let them go.
I would truly reccomend this book, the series actually, to all of those who like romance/fantasy novels. Ms. Kenyon is an awesomely imaginative author who expertly sweeps you into an entirely new world. She is a true artist that provides such keen verbal/written illustrations that you actual feel as though you are experiencing the emotions and physical happenings of the characters. For example, I could see the beauty of Talon's swamp and feel Sunshine's fear of Styxx as if I were right there with her. I love that Ms. Kenyon's literary artistry allows you to be absorbed into these fantastic stories even if only for a few hours a day.
This is the second book that I have listened to in this series and I found, just like in the first one, the very graphic sex scenes dominated the story for me and seemed to be placed instead of really moving the story forward. I wanted to like it more than I did, but I found the narrator's Southern accents to be kind of annoying and I never really got into the characters. I purchased 3 in the series, so one more to go!
This book is everything I like about Sherrilyn's books and what I don't like; what I like: intriguing characters, action, great plot development, the interaction of other characters from other books, which always makes me think she is writing a very huge story which she has broken down into smaller stories, anyway I digress...what I don't like: it is said that when I man writes about loving making they are writing porn, but when a woman writes about love making it is seduction and romance, well Ms. Kenyon as marred those lines a bit I think, I believe that in her books the action and the stories are stuff that happens around the love making (believe me I'm toning this down for Audible) the development of the characters a by product of the sensual world she has developed, don't get me wrong I like a good romp under the covers as much as anyone, but to a lesser degree in the books I read...all in all though, like her other Dark Hunter books, this one is worth listening to, I like Talon, he is cool and his powers rock...like the book that preceded this one, it is a glowing example of a very gifted writer.
Fantasy and smut, but not cheesy. Narrators voice very good, also even volume which is a great plus. I will continue listening to this series, hoping to have this narrator again. The stage is a perfect backdrop for this series.
This series could have been so much better IF the author had more imagination. I wanted to like the series. The idea of 18 books to read about developing characters was very exciting. This is the second book and almost exactly like the first book - OOPS! we accidentally met - OOPS! How have I lived 1500 years without you - OOPS! I would dies if I lost you - OOPS! Let's get married and live happily ever after! I think I would poke my eyes out if I had to read another 16 books with the same storyline!
This is an excellent series. I've already read her entire series...well, until i gradudated from college and didn't have time for things like books anymore...now, the audio books man...its the only way i can get my fix...and what fix do i want? Julian frecking alexander. Yummy. This is a great book...i can't wait to get the rest in my ears!
Absolutely. I think Sherrilyn Kenyon is a great writer and I intend to read all of her books myself.
I love Acheron so I guess that it would be when Acheron rocked the baby while the parents slept.
Same as above
All of these books make me laugh, cry, and shout out with anger.
