Alex Cross is tired. James Patterson is tired. Together, they are damned near worn out! Patterson is at his best when he is moving and twisting and turning, as he did in First to Die and Second Chance. Those are Patterson at his best. But this Alex Cross novel sounds like he'd like to write Alex off if only he could think of a satisfying way to do it. I found the central theme of the story so unbelievable when revealed, that it simply left me going "what the heck?" For the most part, I'm willing to give Jimmy a break when he constructs a plot, but this one just went too far. When I put it down, I was glad it was over. I doubt if I will be picking up another Alex Cross novel. Part of the problem is that the wisdom and humor that used to flow from the pages is lacking. The Nanna-Momma character who used to provide such wisdom and direction is an afterthought, as are the children. The time lines are not coherent. It is almost like this one was ghost-written. Get Second Chance or First to Die and pass this one up.
Pure perverted filth. After listening to only the 1st hour or so, I stopped my player, disgusted with this trash. The scene that ended it, was 3 ?men? picking up a 19 year old prostitute, ?hunting? her through a nearby swap then catching, raping, then presumably killing her. I never let this garbage get that far. Does this perverted author get off on this crap. I am thoroughly sorry I wasted me money and I wish there was a way for me to specify 0 stars. I have herd hundreds of audio books. Some were great, some were not worth the time, but none have EVER made me this revolted in my life.
"Programming is an art form that fights back"
Very disappointing. Meaningless plot additions, including two descriptive sex scenes and other twist. Many parts of the book could have been completely removed and not changed the story at all. Maybe it was written to be a movie script and not a book?
All this aside, the book was rather boring as well.
Intriguing at first, but after about 1/2 way through, the violence seemed to go on and on and on... This while Patterson has also rather lengthy and seemingly unrelated digressions into the detectives' romantic lives. They're taking days off while more people are getting killed! Still, has its moments and the narration is excellent...
Love audiobooks. Mystery and suspense novels are the ones I enjoy the most.
The story for this book was great but the narrators could have been better. They just didn't really portray the characters very well. I did enjoy the book however. I would recommend this book for people who like James Patterson.
The Alex Cross series is a great story!! I have been listening to book after book and so far each book has been inthralling. Having said that I believe the audiobook company is trying their hardest to ruin the series!! Each book has had a different reader which I just don't understand it makes it hard to get into the series because it seems like each book is its own book. An even bigger frustration WHY DO THEY PUT MUSIC IN THE STORY!! This is a BOOK NOT A MOVIE!!!!!!!!!
On top like the others
The entire book
Love James Patterson looking forward to ten next book
I have been changing the audiobooks that I listen to...and I am hooked once again to Alex Cross and James Patterson...Great story and performance!!!!!
I really enjoyed the novel. It was not what I was expecting. The military stuff was pretty good. If you like Alex Cross novels, you will enjoy this one as well.
