Real life can be boring sometimes, and that's when I pick up a book (or my mp3 player) :-D
This book is amazing! It makes up for the so-so first book completely. This is probably the best book I've listened to since the Mistborn series. The narrator has a weird habit of drawing out the last word of sentences, but he does a really good job with the character voices. I would give him 5 stars as well. I'm currently in the middle of the third book and the series just keeps getting better.
After the first book narriated by the master Guidall, this was a frustrating listen - Muller puts a breathy emphasis on the last word of every sentence that is really distracting. I want to continue the serier but dread the fact that the next one is also done by Muller
The whole Dark Tower series was just about the best thing I have every listened to. It was amazing. Wonderful book.
The DT2 is a great story and draws you in moreso than the first book. The narrator has a good voice if only his cadence was different. His tempo goes from speaking quickly through sentences for dramatic effect then emphasizing the last few words which almost sounds slurry with a shhhh sound. I found the quick, quick, then emphantic ending of the sentences annoying. The narrator from the Gunslinger finishes up the series and I'm looking forward to hearing him again.
This audiobook is definitely worthwhile.
This is a great book to follow the gunslinger. I personally thought this was a far better book than the first, and urge anyone who read the first to read ( listen ) to this one and will definenately leave you wanting more. Although it is a series of 7, this book does not leave you dangling so to speak. Obviously the story continues, but not in some cheap soap opera type manner. I don't want to mention specifics, but this my one my top 5 books of all time. I am currently listening to the 3rd book in the series and will post a review for each volume. I don't know how Steven King comes up with these great stories, but his talent is evident here. A And I only give a handful of books my A . Others of my favorites include, The lion's game, The Runaway Jury, and The Doomsday Conspiracy.
Of the Dark Tower novels, The 3 that are the best, are Drawing of the Three, Song of Susanna, and The Dark Tower.
The others, are tales that stand as stories on their own. These, however, blend together as one story + the last two chapters
of the Wolves of the Calla.
Truly, King's best work. I read Drawing of the Three, several times. It still rides as the Favorite of the Stories. I
always like beginnings more then endings, and it has a great fast pace.
Song of Susanna moves just as fast, and is just as captivating.
The Dark Tower moves both fast and slow. I think King was a bit over giving in this one. We get a chapter (sometimes more),
on characters, who are only crossing paths with the Ka-Tet for a page, (sometimes less). But when it moves, it moves well, but....
It's hard on the heart, say True.
This is the best of the Dark Towers series. Sets up most of the main characters and I've gone back to this book many times and each time find it enjoyable.
