Am I the only listener who finds Davina Porter's voice and inflexions annoying?
I have read all of the Outlander books several years ago, and just started to re-read. I recently subscribed to Audible, so I have started on Voyager. I am struggling with Davina's narration as it seems so exaggerated. I was hoping the rest of the books were narrated by someone else, but it appears not...
A different narrator.
Wishing I could get this series with a different narrator.
A continuation of a beautiful love story in intriguing historical fiction, made perfect by its narrator. Already downloading its sequel!
All business but contemporary fun!
This was another emotional roller coaster. Claire make another life-altering decision to leave her grown up daughter behind, albeit at the good hands of the Reverend's nephew and passes through the stones yet again to find Jamie, after discovering that he did not die at Culloden. The re-union is not what you would expect as Jamie's life in the past 20 years is slowly uncovered and their deepest fears and uncertainties are brought to life. Through their travels they get to know each other yet again and accept the consequences of their actions. This book has a great many new characters and transports you to places unknown.
Diana Gabaldon has easily landed on my top 3 authors of all time.
I love Epic Fantasy....have become a Historical Romance fan because I am a sucker for a good Happily Ever After. Good characters are a must
This is another heart wrenching, exciting, touching, maddening, epic installment in the Outlander series.
Diana's ability to write conversations just as two people might have one in real life is outstanding...she just makes everything so real. Then Davina Porter's narration is second to none as she brings the characters to life before your mind's eye!
Some of the lines in this book made me just burst out laughing. Diana is a master of character interactions and dialogue.
We begin to see how the 20 years has changed both Jamie and Claire. We also see how the time hasn't changed some things.
We met a few new characters and some of the past characters are back as well. Of course there are new adventures and new troubles....but with Jamie and Claire it's always something.
If it weren't so long I would not have wanted to put it down. Instead I paced myself and savored every moment I listened.
I hear the Drums of Autumn. .....
I love this whole series. I can't wait to start the next book. The narrater, Davina Porter does an awesome job with voices and accents to make the story come alive. It is along series but worth the time it takes to listen to it.
I have worked so hard for so long that I've had very little time to read. Enter iPhone4; now an earbud has cut driving time while I enjoy!!!
I highly recommend this entire series. The writer is truly gifted. the reader, perfection. Please start with book 1 to keep with the flow of the story. While engrossed in a wonderful captivating tale one inadvertently learns a lot of history, geography, and the realization that people are the same no matter when and where they are born. Previous generations have more superstitions, blood & gore at times (but do they really?)
Constantly on the search for a good book this one has it all...romance, betrayal, war, fantasy, reality, and an attention to a detailed description that one seldom finds. All the love scenes are artfully and tastefully presented with never a vulgarity. In addition, Davina Porter is so gifted that one never has to wonder which character is speaking!
This is a book I would highly recommend no matter what your preference of genre`
