Laurens's Regency universe of the amazing, fabulously wealthy ducal clan PLUS Simon Prebble's magnificent baritone voice with his consummate acting skill across lines of class, region and gender & unrivaled exposition of passion EQUAL a wonderful listen and re-listen. An excellent use of a credit!
Nv Native American, 1 room school house, hi school of 30, Raised 4-2& 2 ala Brady Bnch, lv audio books, home bound widow. M happy. Thnx AB.
Ms. Lauren's wasted many good words with this listen! It's a simple plot that is all set up in the first two chapters that then goes on, and on, and on, with no purpose. The book becomes tedium au naseum by the ending chapters. I've listened to other books by Ms. Lauren's and they were five star! If it weren't for the stellar performance of Mr. Pebble, this listen would have hit the discard pile by chapter three. I don't recommend this book to anyone who wants more action. If it's a rainy day, nap inducing listen wanted, this really fits the bill!
Love Devil's Bride. From the beginning to the end it was extremely hard to put down. The murder mystery, finding love and dealing with the inestimable Cynster Family; Thoughly Enjoyed It !!!
Can't wait to see what Fate has in store for Vane Cynster !!!
Bodice ripper language got in way of potentially good story.
Not this genre, just this author. Never again.
He's great. He's the reason I got the book
Unbelievably fake passion. So many heaving chests and throbbing thighs.
Can't you protect reader from something this poorly written?
I cannot finish listening to this book. I have over nine hours left and I cannot imagine going through the same scenes for this long.
Beware, the following may be considered a spoiler.
Perhaps, Devil will start seeing Honoria as more than good looking female well bred enough to make Duchess instead of a mistress. Those are her only options it appears. She does find him very attractive and his seduction work on her rather well (she didn't have to read about in the author's words). But, still, she gets no other choice. Possibly that attitude changes as the characters grow through the book. But I could not wait any more. The problem is the overwrought, over symbolized sex scenes. I appreciate a good sex scene with a passionate build up and lots of emotion, but the scenes in this book just wear me out.
The voice actor does a very nice job with this material. Good female and male voices. Devil is sufficiently macho, Honoria is quite haughty. Very well done.
