Watching Lexi grow into herself. It reminds me a little of 13 going on 30, for a more widely known reference.
After this audiobook, I also download Undomestic Goddess, another of Sophie Kinsella's book. This author is pretty awesome!
YES! Laughed so many times.
I am a miracle worker. Doing what I can to choose love over fear.
I have not read the print. Rosalyn Landor is one of few able to give men a true authentic voice.
Including a chapter seen from those mattering to Lexi. What do they each really think and feel?
Her work is beyond fantastic!
I listen to a bit of everything. Mostly Fantasy and paranormal romance with my wife. Along with mysteries/thrillers, even some sci-fi.
It's not a bad book, but it's not nearly as good as her other books, Can you Keep a Secret?, the Shopaholic series, etc. I was uncomfortable with the premise the romance that Lexi had. I know it's chick lit fantasy, but losing your memory and having a husband you don't remember, along with friends who for some reason hate you. Then there's her family who have some big issues that Lexi doesn't understand. In typical chick lit fashion it does get resolved with some twists and turns, which are pretty fun and empowering, but I'm still not digging the whole romance for Lexi angle, I don't think that's positive for women, not to mention my wife was like EH? when we got into Lexi's romance.
It's a solid book if you like Sophia Kinsella, and it's got some humor, but it's a pretty big step down from her other books, and I'd recommend those before diving into this one.
HATE spoilers! Enjoy HOT, sexy books w/a plot. No vampires, paranormal, teens 4 me. Books outside HOT genre = books given to me to review
If you are a Kinsella's fan you won't want to miss it. However, it was not my favorite by far.
This book was good - it seemed a bit tedious to me as I was just waiting: Will she remember? As others point out it is Kinsella's style but the chuckles weren't there as much. When they hit they were hilarious-spit your soda, snorting laughter.
I think I wanted a different ending-but cannot say anymore without spoiling.
When 28-year-old Lexi Smart wakes up in a London hospital, she's in for a big surprise: Her teeth are perfect. Her body is toned. Her handbag is Vuitton.
Having survived a car accident - in a Mercedes no less - Lexi has lost a big chunk of her memory, three years to be exact, and she's about to find out just how much things have changed. Somehow Lexi went from a 25-year-old working girl to a corporate big shot with a sleek new loft, a personal assistant, a carb-free diet, and a set of glamorous new friends. And who is this gorgeous husband - who also happens to be a multimillionaire?
With her mind still stuck three years in reverse, Lexi greets this brave new world determined to be the person she, well, seems to be. That is, until an adorably disheveled architect drops the biggest bombshell of all.
Suddenly Lexi is scrambling to catch her balance. Her new life, it turns out, comes complete with secrets, schemes, and intrigue. How on earth did all this happen? Will she ever remember? And what will happen when she does?
Absolutely, she is one of my favorite 'Chic Lit' authors. Marian Keyes is my favorite but Sophie Kinsella is a close second!
Yes, she does a fantastic job although she does sound a bit 'old' for these characters at times.
NOTE: Some strong language
I did enjoy the story overall and the journey that Lexi takes is an interesting one. There was a lot more swearing than I would have preferred, so that was a little hard to listen to, but other than that it was an fun story to listen to.
Yes, Sophie Kinsella tells a good story, even if they do seem to follow a bit of a formula. There's a lot of similarity in her characters, but she knows her characters and writes them well.
I read a lot of Agatha Christie and there was some mystery to this story, so it was thought provoking. Sophie Kinsella writes good comedy, not so sure about the mystery. I think that she held too much back for too long.
I could imagine an interesting follow up with her mother, sister and business venture.
Never got into the shopaholic series. Enjoyed this one immensely. I wish she would write more of these kinds of novels.
