I've come to really enjoy Joseph Finder's books - he always captures the language of the industry he is writing about. In this book, however, I think he tries too hard to dazzle us with his insider knowledge of spyware and Special Forces lingo. By the end of the book, I really had lost interest. Too bad, because I usually like his stuff. The one highlight? Good narration.
Joseph Finder is at his best in this exciting thriller. The plot is fast paced and the characters are interesting. I did feel he could have developed the character of the imprisioned father a little more throughly though. The narrator was good except for his voice change when he did the teenage son. That was tough to listen to. It reminded me of someone who talks through their nose and whines while doing so. I would have given this a 5 instead of a 4 if not for this.
Read the Bourne Triology then Nelson Demille John Corey sp? books and Up Country and especially Word Of Honor ......and you too will feel this book is not in the same league.
Decent story but you never really care how it ends...only that it ends.
I devour books but this one was a let down
Excellent book! This would have been one book I would have enjoyed reading, but I was traveling a lot during the summer, and decided to pull it down from Audible instead. The narrater did an excellent job voicing each character differently. I even slowed down my driving so I could listen to it more.
I have been an avid audible listener foot quite some time.it has helped me stay sharp and entertained as well.
this was a great book. It held my attention til the very end. It was a slight departure from his other books but very well done.
Not as good as previous works, the story was kind of confusing, but I was entertained. The narrator wasn't the greatest. This is supposed to be a series of novels hopefully the next one will have less bratty teenagers.
The story isn't bad but OMG, I'd like to smack the crap out of the narrator. When he reads normally, like in the preview, it's great. Then he does the nasally teenage and woman's voice, or the fey British voice, or the gruff tough guy voice and grunts... Ummmm, no. This is not a bedtime story, I don't need make believe voice to make the story more interesting.
