This book was slow in the opening. After the first chapter however, itwas one of the best books I've heard in a long time! I jumped through the series following the books Elena stars in. All are great but, this is the best! Men of the Otherworld is also a good book in the series as it explains Clay and Jeremy. (Mostly Clay.)
I'm sarcastic, witty, and full of myself. What more could you ask for?
Not really. I bought this book because I had bought The Gathering and really enjoyed it. I thought there was far too much whine in this story, and I was bored with it rather quick.
Trashed it, and started over.
A story line that didn't bore me.
I think this is one of the better books that I have read in a long time. I liked the story....the plot...and the narrator. I will definately be taking a closer look at the Otherworld series!
Tell us about yourself! I love to read. I read two to three books a week. My favorite authors are Kim Harrison and Stephenie Meyer.
Yes I loved charter. The story line was great.
I loved the charter Cay. He was so funny
The narrator was great. She was the best. In the other books the narrator is different.
I want to begin by saying that I HATE werewolf stories. I loathe them. The one and only reason that I listened to this book is because Aasne Vigesaa is my all-time favorite reader and she doesn't narrate very many books. I ran out of options and so I decided to give this one a try, but only because of my loyalty to Aasne.
That being said, turns out I love this particular author's style. This is an amazing story with great characters. So even though I said I would never fall into the werewolf trend, here I stand. Knowing that this is the first of a series, and knowing that as soon as I am finished writing this review I will buy the next book, even though Aasne doesn't narrate it. I am officially hooked.
I like books!
i loved the story but i women reading the story made it even better.i wish she was the women that read all the books
I wasn't expecting much but from the moment I first listened the narrator had me. Her narration was on the spot! Made the characters come alive and I wish that this series always used this narrator. The storyline and characters are so vivid. One of Kelley Armstrong's better books. Loved every minute of this audiobook!
It took a little bit to get into the book, but after about 15 minutes, I was hooked! I love the narrator Aasne, she does an excelllent job portraying the characters and the accents of each. I am on the next one in the series, Stolen, it has a different narrator, not for sure yet if I like this one. Elena just isn't the same in this one.
I like this book. The narrator is excellent and the main character has depth and make mistakes. Although I usually get embarassed by sloppy, ridiculous love scenes, (Yes I am an adult). The passionate love scene is really cool. This is not a girly book but an everyone's book except, of course for children. I I am excited about downloading other books by this author. Try it, I believe you'll like it.
Listening to this a second time, I am enjoying it, but there are some things that irk me. SPOILERS!!! First, I think the werewolf world that Armstrong has built is ridiculous. I like the individual ways the werewolves act, but to have only 35 werewolves worldwide is, well, ridiculous. And to have "the pack" with only 7 members, quickly reduced to 5. So all the other werewolves are not good enough. They are just mutts and often have to be killed. So how are they going to maintain a worldwide population of 35? And (MORE SPOILERS!!), in future books they kill more mutts, like they were expendable. And then suddenly there is a Russian pack in a future book. And they kill more mutts. Armstrong seems to be painting herself into a corner. Secondly, I find Ehlena, whom I really want to like, to be a weak character who makes poor decisions and often reacts in panic. The fact that she is the "only" female werewolf is also a sticking point for me. With all these out of control mutts trying to make new females, it's hard to imagine that none of them can succeed. I do agree with others that the narrator does a great job on the men's voices and the accents. I'm not that thrilled with Ehlena's voice, but it is OK.
