Great Story as are all Crais books. But Pat Lawlor's Pesche-esk narration is the absolute best match for Cole's sarcastic wit.
Sorry, just couldn't get into it...Several names to remember and took awhile to get into the story
This book is an easy and ejoyable read but the narrator is the wrong voice for Elvis Cole. James Daniels in the voice of Elvis Cole.
I have been reading this series from the beginning and have ejoyed seeing the author and the characters in his books grow.
Much less than I expected. The reader almost put me to sleep and now I will not listen to Voodoo River or whatever the title is. Dick Hill and a few other readers have spoiled me I guess. Yawn......
I had read a couple of books in this series and thought that I would stick with it, but this one is dull and tedious with characters that you can't care about. I will have to look elsewhere. I highly recommend the Harlan Coben series with Myron Bolitar for a smart, witty detective.
i buy at least one hundred books a year. of all types. just want a good story with a good reader. not so complicated.
I'm not sure that I can really comment on the book. I can't get past the reader. Bought Lullaby Town so that I could listen to all of the series but the narrator sounds so much like Dick Hill. I just finished returning all the books I have bought narrated by him as his narration grates on me. Don't know if I will get through this one. I have to read it instead.
Not sounding like Dick Hill.
There is a follow up book read by the same man. I have already bought it but may have to return. I usually listen to a book straight through. I am having trouble listening for more than 30 minutes.
Yes and have. It's Pike and Cole enough said.
Voo Doo River, child seeks parent instead of parent seeking child.
Drama Humor Suspense, he makes my mouth twitch.
Yes and almost did, while driving from Virginia to Florida
Does RC have a Pinocchio clock in his office?
Robert Crais is an amazing writer I love his books. The only thing I had a problem with is the narrators voice. I was too used to Elvis sounding youthful and sarcastic in the first 2 books. This narrator sounded like he didn't understand the sarcasm as he read it, so he didn't say it as you would in everyday life. I now know there are multiple narrators to choose from my fault kinda rushed into this new website with out reading everything. Thank you
Retired grandma - "nana" - love to read and travel and audible fits that bill!
Probably, because I know Robert Crais is known for good writing. This one did not hold us. We travel and use books to fill the long miles. Each time we stopped we had to ask ourselves, what the book was a bout before we began again. And the language was just too much. You can get your point across with out all of that.
John Grisham's The Litigators
We like good mysteries, police procedure books and suspense. If Crais is really as good as others say he is I hope this was a poor choice for us.
