Let's get down to business! My car is my educational hot spot. Plug in a book and let's go!
It is one of the few fiction books I have read. I bought it to share with my kids as we traveled and we sometimes finish the chapter before we turn off the car.
Who is not to like! Peter is more level headed in this book than in anything else we have read, which makes him more likeable. Tinkerbell is more enjoyable to think about as a bird woman than as a jealous fairy. Slank is an awesome bad guy.
Yes, Jim Dale is an excellent storyteller and his voices are seamless. It's easy to forget that we are listening to just one person.
Yes and no. Yes because it is compelling and no because I want it to last. It's a bit like a fractured fairy tale, but better because the characters have great depth.
This book is the second in a series. The first book was a gift to one of my children and I would not have picked this title on my own without that prompt. I am glad we got it.
This was a wonderful story! My 8 yr old liked it even better than the first book in the series. It is a little darker than the first book. Jim Dale is amazing, as always.
For starters, Jim Dale is absolutely amazing as a reader. Hands down, the best in the business. He makes any story come alive with such richness and depth that you feel like you are right there in it! And, this is a rollicking good tale! Every bit as good as the first! My only "criticism" is that there is so much going on, that I got a little tired living through it! (Of course, that kind of liveliness is hardly a real criticism.) Suffice it to say that both mom and 10 yo boy were absolutely riveted.
