Absolutely! A whole new perspective of the older brother and how much like one of the brothers each of us are. The only true older brother is Jesus. He gives lovingly and unselfishly. Nothing was taken from him but everything was given out of love, mercy and abundant grace.
Excellent perspective and insight into this oft-heard parable. Dr. Keller has the incredible ability to enlighten even simple concepts so that the reader can have a deeper understanding of this famous passage.
The depth to which Keller takes the familiar story of the Prodigal Son. He brought so much to the story that I had never contemplated.
The competing world views of the older brother and the younger brother.
It's nice to hear the author read his own book
One of my favorite books on Audible.com
a dedicated dilettante
Yes, yearly. It reminds us well our Father's heart for us and the heart we're called to have for each other. It reminds us that we all have different temperaments and we're commanded to love one another with those different temperaments. Mostly, it reminds us that we have an elder brother who is true and truly love us, Jesus.
The father - he loves and is show as magnificent in that love.
His inflection and tone make areas where he wants to emphasize even more clear.
God's prodigal love for us knows no bounds.
Change of Heart!
Learning about the other two players in the story, the dad and brother! Very interesting interpretation - I am listening to it again and will listen to it at least one more time after that.
The equality of sin of the younger and older brother. Sin is sin.
Realizing I have been at some point in my life the younger and older brother.
Although not a long book, the author explains clearly the parable of the Prodigal Son and how this parable relates to who we are as individuals. I gained a clearer understanding of this story and learned that the parable was a tremendous message and not just a story I heard in Sunday school. This is an incredible book for anyone who is a "seeker". I will recommend it without reservations.
What did I love about "The Prodical God" ... everything. What a great book! When I first started to listen the author was talking about how the book is a great resource for new believers so I was a little apprehensive but not for long. It really dealt with a lot of things I am /was going through. If it doesn't relate to you ...you will know some one that it does. It helped me understand why I could be sold out to God and still empty.
I don't know how much of a comparison it is but Walking With God by John Eldridge is another book that had a similar impact on my
When he was takling about the older brother.
I have listened to this two times already. That says a lot!! I have told and convinced two of my friends that they just had to listen /read it ... they feel the same way, with a same impact. I was telling another friend and she said that they did this as a study at their church and lent me the DVD. I cant wait!It is definately one that I will recomend again and again
