I couldn't stop listening to this audiobook. Although most of the "factors" I believed to be true before listening, it gave deeper explanations and a good insight into the future of our society.
A must read. All parents, teachers and boys that want to be men should read this book. It's tools that separate us from the animals. This book is the tool that can make us better parents and better teachers to those that follow.
As my wife and I listened to this book, I heard Dr. Sax describe our son exactly. We gained enough good insights into him that we listened a second time and had him listen with us. Since then, I've recommended this book to several friends in similar situations.
My wife, a first grade elementary teacher, echoed many of the same observations made in this book.
Definitely worth listening to if you are a parent with a boy or you work with kids on a regular basis.
Fascinating, informative, utterly disturbing. This book should be required reading for all parents of boys! Sadly, I see my own son (now 22) in this book. I wish I'd had this information years ago!!
If you have an interest in successful children, in this case boys, this a must.
It takes us into their world, their minds, their needs as youngsters so we can produce better adults.
If you are looking for some insight into the little boy of your life, this I highly recomment.
This book reviews what is happening to young men (in the US and around the world) who "fail to launch." It is a disturbing look at the decline in men who are engaged in starting their lives as adults. Individuals with sons or grandsons will gain insight. People simply interested in what is taking place sociologically to this group will be rewarded.
Definitely. Dr. Sax presents a fascinating look at the physiology and development of human males and the obstacles preventing an egg and sperm developing into a fully functional man.
I appreciate opinions based on verified evidence and solid rational thought.
The narrator was adequate, neither making or breaking the value of this book. That may sound apathetic but sometimes a reader being invisible allows the lister to just engage in the story.
There are very real physiological, mental and emotional differences between boys and girls beginning with chromosomes and continuing on to the most obvious details we all take for granted.
I will also remember the information on environmental and societal factors which influence the development of boys into men. Excellent book!
The book is very informative and very good. It touches very sensitive issues and hit them spot on. A bit of science a bit of medicine and a bit of psychology. great.
Yes, because I think he makes valid points about male leadership, schools, BPA, video games, and more.
Unlike most child rearing books. This is unique compared to other books I have read.
He branches out to explain how BPAs affect girls too, which is good to know.
