The author led me to the series. I enjoyed the story and the world. It leaves a lot of room for growth.
I liked the dynamic between the main character and the guard. I found that the story had too many characters and back story to keep up. I would need to read this book several times before I understand the world, culture and characters.
I am a fan of the Anita Blake series by this auther so I wanted to try this series out. I did not find it as thrilling. The story has all the elements I usually look for - paranormal, great characters, romance, sex, fighting, dynamic relationships...but it is missing something for me. I did not feel a need to read the second story or at least I did not want to spend $$ on it.
I absolutely love the series and the reader was pleasant to hear and she seemed like she enjoyed what she was reading.
Doyle. He is perfect in my mind. High intellect as well as common sence. Exotic and mysterious he is exactly how I hoped he would be.
Sensual and often bemused. Gentle
Magic, conspiracy, and the fate of the entire world of farie rest in the womb of one woman.
The reader was good but her mispronunciation of some of the names drives me nuts. Even in the back of the actual book it says Doyle's name is pronounced Dole.
I am the mother of two boys an RN and preachers wife. In my spare time I enjoy spending time listening to books. That keeps my hands free.
Keeps your attention.
Laural Merlington brings life to the characters. I liked the different voices she used for the characters.
The main character of this book Merry, is very well described and the details are great. I really began to recognize the main "men" all through the book. The story was entertaining and easy to follow.
I consume literature. I drive a semi-truck/tanker and have lots of time between my destinations so a good book is essential to my well being
In the top 20 percentile! I love Laurel's style.
I enjoyed that even though the main character is starting with the story in her 30's the author does not neglect her past. Its so important in character development.
Yes, She's a terrific narrator. I don't get tired of listening to her.
When Meredith brings Roane Finn back to his power by giving him back his seal skin.
Character development! Its the key to holding my interest in a story. Laurel develops her characters very well and holds the readers interest in them. You need to know what is going to happen next. I have read descriptive sex in stories before(A.N. Roquelaure-Sleeping Beauty Trilogy) but she brings it to life. No it's not all sex, the story itself is a great concept and written superbly.
If you're looking for low grade porn this is barely worth it. 1st 14 chapters very slow and mostly poor written soft core.
I tried to give it a chance to go someplace but it never did for chapters 1-17 nothing happens. Just could not get into the story, plot is there but there is just nothing worth listening to, not worth the credit.
disappointed that it was mostly seemed the author is in need to find something to do with her hands besides type
not worth the credit
I would recommend this audiobook because it kept me interested and I didn't get bored for fall asleep.
There is no comparison to her books.
Voice to the people of the book.
I have read this book before, I really enjoyed listening to it rather than reading it. I liked when she was in the roses.
This book ranks right up there with the other books I've read. Laural Merlington gives a very convincing performance.
I can't pick only one!!! A Kiss of Shadows is memorable from beginning to end. But every scene with the Queen of Air and Darkness in it has me on the edge of my seat wondering what she'll do next!
The main thing she brings, along with her convincing character voices, is the pronounciation of the names and such in the book. A lot of the names in the book are spelled nothing like they sound, and she really makes it so you can understand the series better by listening to it than by reading it!!!!
Galen's death and revival. I like Galen, although he's a disaster in waiting. Laural Merlington made this scene nail-biting.
Keep it up and I'll continue listening!!!!
Stories have a good premis, but unfortunately drift into more sex and less plot. Narator was good, unfortuately they swapped narators for one book then go back to the original narator.
Decent reed but plots could be stronger.
I wish I had read more reviews before purchasing this. There was a thin plot but not one that seemed to have any point to it except to provide a reference point for numerous superficial sexual encounters. Frankly, I found it boring. I won't bother with any more.
I really like Laurell K Hamiltons ..Anita Black series... whoo hoo erotic and racy and great main characters. This was a bit boring sorry to say.
