I finished listening to this book because I bought it and the reviews were positive. But the language is unbearable stale, e.g. she softly/huskily/gently answered, he felt rage/passion/revenge rise in his throat. Also the plot is completely obvious frm the the beginning. A waste of a credit.
Definitely. The plot is full of suspense and very well written.
His narration enhances the thrill and suspense involving the story.
This book ranks very high with me and I am pretty picky.
Lethal was another over the top GREAT. They both kept me at the edge of my seat.
He is very good at bringing characters to life
Thrilling and exciting!
I wish there were more books that are up to the standards of Envy and Lethal. I haven't read all of Sandra Browns books, but these two rate pretty high in my mind.
Yes, great plot! Narrator's southern accent makes the delivery sooo believable.
AMAZING - What else does he narrate!
Right up there at the top!
I've recommended this story to others on more than one occassion. All agreed that the book was a good listen and very entertaining.
Yes. Could not put it down great writing and plot
Parker Evans sneaky full of suprises
Yes When the father died
Love making scenes were to much did not need to get so explesed
This was a thoroughly enjoyable and suspenseful story. The narration was superb. Mr. Slezak's differentiation of character voices was excellent--especially when there are numerous character parts to read. This story is fiction. It is entertaining. Don't try analyze it, just enjoy the story. Trust me that once you start listening, you will not be able to stop.
There is an old-fashion element to this story that cannot be revealed as it may be considered a spoiler to the ending. Other story elements such as peeking into the lives of rich people and their businesses; experiences of a difficult childhood, challenges of the physically disabled, travel, views of contrasting aspects of Americana--including familiar sterotypes, unexpected love, betrayal, deceit, vengence, murder, sizzling sex and more are all here. What I also enjoyed was the "novel or story" within the "story". Ms. Brown did a nice job with this technique. All of these elements make an incredibly good story. Keep in mind that this is fiction and that the characters may not always display good judgment or rational behavior. However, these flaws are what make the story interesting, keep the plot twisting and turning. If something occurs that is unbelievable, so be it. This story is meant to be an escape from reality. Good Lifetime movie material. This was so worth the credit.
Having listened or read virtually all of Sandra Brown's books, this is and will remain my favourite. And Victor Slezak's narration is great, particularly for those volatile male characters (my only unavoidable criticism is that a man can never quite reproduce a woman's voice). The story is unusual, as the male lead is confined to a wheelchair but the story of revenge, albeit tried and tested, is rendered all the more novel by this fact - after all, how can a cripple go about getting his revenge on those who put him in that wheelchair! But listen on - as the climax is, as with most of Sandra Brown's books, unexpected to say the least. This was the first Audible title I ever purchased and x number of books later - remains my favourite! So do yourself a favour - download it today! But your family will have to attract your attention by smoke signals!!!
This is my new favorite book. I love how it pulls you in from the beginning and doesn;t let you go. My favorite parts are the prolog and the end, but all of the twists and turns in between make it a well rounded book. The narrater is fantastic! I think this is a great escape.
I thought the story started out well, the prologue was very good and captured my attention. But then as the story morphed into the modern day events it seemed to me as though Sandra Brown just wanted a story so that she could write steamy sex scenes.
Call me a prude, and yes I'm a pastor so that colors my opinion to reflect my morals and tastes.
So, if you want a book filled with sexual scenes and innuendo this is for you.
Also, I got about a third of the way through the book, but just couldn't go any farther because the language and sex I found a bit to offensive.
