I marathoned a listen of the book Envy over the weekend and considering the story held me captive during one of my favorite pass times of college football. Alabama had a bye week and to say this book filled that gap is a huge compliment to Sandra Brown.
The story flows beautifully and I don't recall a dull moment, even during some of the segways where the author switches between the stories, that she has cleverly woven within the story, Sandra Brown makes use of a suspenseful common thread and ties the ending with a satisfying bow.
I highly recommend this book, but it does have some steamy scenes, maybe three or four, that are sexual, but not outlandish, as well as some frat boy banter. I would suggest one should be thoughtful of this issue if listening in a car or any environment with children, but thats a no brainer for most but sometime we do forget. Read it and enjoy!
I enjoyed all of them!
No, but I will look for him in the future. He did an amazing job and brought the characters through with the flow and tempo of his voice.
The letter from Noah's teacher that P.M.E includes in his book.
It's adult sexy, suspenseful and while it is a colorful read it still leaves plenty of room for one to paint their own pictures yet doesn't bog the reader down with to many details. I enjoy texture and color in a book, but only if it doesn't distract from the story. This story hit the mark.
Envy is definitely at the top if not the best.
Parker Evans was my favorite. He had depth and his struggles and pain made you both feel for him as well as understand why he had to do what he did.
One of the final scenes where Parker walks and you realize that he didn't have the darkness in him to actually kill Noah.
Without a doubt, this is a "must read" book if you are a Sandra Brown fan. The storyline is exciting and keeps you guessing, with plenty of romance as well as intrigue. Victor Slezak, as always, does an excellent job of narrating.
yes, I have listened to this book 5 x's. I'm not much on rereading and I enjoy Sandra Brown books in general but this is the best.
No comparable comes to mind
His rendering of the voices for each character is very well done.
I don't post reviews as a rule because I enjoy most of the books I download. I consider them all good for different reasons, but this book kept me going from beginning to end and rereading is as good as the first read.
THE TWISTS AND TURNS IN THE STORY LINE
Victor is a fantastic narrator - he does justice to any book!
Nurse, mom, loved to read....but now I love to listen. When I retire I hope to hear waves crashing in 1 ear and audible in the other!
Good versus Evil
Parker.....A strong, patient, caring person and in the end....a winner!
I thought he did a great job. In the beginning I thought his southern accent was a little dowdy but as I came to know the characters it suited them.
I was astonished by how evil someone can be for so long and not get caught...but good triumphed in the end!
I highly recommend...I could not stop listening...
Horrible story line and characters. Saw good reviews and bought book. How anyone could give this book a positive review is beyond me. Ridiculous book.
Not written it.
Performance was okay considering what reader had to work with
Redeeming qualities? No No No
Unexpected; Surprising; Satisfying
The overall storyline was so unusual - there were stories within the story - plots within the plot and surprises at every turn.
It's isn't enough to say the characters were brought to life - they were right there with you the entire book. It was as if you were part of every scene.
Sandra Brown has always been one of my favorite authors - however, this is by far the best novel I have read/listened to over the past few years! It really kept your attention and provided so many surprises that I wanted to keep driving just to listen to the book!
It took me a bit to get used to the Narrator, but once I did, I was drawn in. I enjoyed everything about this book. I listened to it on my drive to work and home and towards the end I couldn't stop...I totally enjoyed it! Thank You!
I'm an avid reader who now listens to books on tape. I'm a bit late to the game but enjoying the hands free reading.
I didn't appreciate Parker at first but he grew on me as I figured out the storyline.
Victor is an excellent narrator!
I enjoyed listening to it at different points in time as it kept me wanting more. It was easy to catch up to the characters and plot as there were few characters and a linear story.
I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Sandra Brown's.
