This is one of the best spy novels I have read/listened to. Alex Berensen is a master a writing a thrilling tale. The narrator does an excellent job of capturing the emotions of the hero. Highly recommend this book.
I have been an Audible Listener for over 10 years and rarely write reviews. This has to be one of the absolute best listens ever... Definitely within the top 5 out of over 320 books.
The narrator is EXCELLENT and really highlights all the nuiances of all the characters. The gripping story line flows smoothly and rapidly but with great attention to details without being too "flowery." The best part and the SCARIEST part of this book is that it could easily be real life story ... thank goodness that this is fiction... until United States goes on the next code yellow....
Yes, I agree with the overwhelmingly positive rating of this book. Realistic, excellent characters and not the usual amount of tired cliches. The narration is above average too.
This is my first book from Alex Berensen and as soon as it was over I came straight to see if he had more books listed, so I guess I enjoyed it immensely. I've worked in arabic countries, and really enjoyed the Islamic culture aspects. The narrator does a good job with the pronounciation as well. Overall a very good book. Kept me listening constantly until the end.
it's difficult to write contemporary spy thrillers and have them be believable and entertaining at the same time but this author succeeds. the reader isn't the best in Audible but he's very good.
sports announcer, cyclist, enjoys to travel and the outdoors.
This is a good book, not great, and only at the end was it hard to "put down". Tragically, after 9/11, there is a lot of truth in the book, as far as sleeper cells and people wanting to hurt america. I would recommend Silva, Steve Berry, Brad Thor over this book
I did not think it lived up to the hype of the many of the 5 star reviews it received, but I do recommend it.
It was simply not as captivating as some of the reviews indicate, meaning there just weren't a lot of story points that were surprisingly creative, as I had hoped.
But overall, it's a good book and entertaining... it's worth the purchase.
If your a long time listener like myself, you occassionally are "caught up" on hearing your favorite authors. I found the need with a road trip coming up to pick someone I had never heard before. WOW.... hands down the best book I've heard in the last year ! Well written, believeable characters, great reader.... I can't wait to find another by him. Do yourself a favor ...listen to this book.
I recommended this book to my husband, e.g., nagged him until he started it. Unfortunately, he started the first download at 11:00 last night and finished it before coming to bed. He was still sleeping when I left for work at 8:00. It is that kind of book. It caught me off guard more than once and not many books can do that. Strongly recommend for anyone who appreciates a good story and an excellent reader.
Wow, I can't wait to listen to the next in the series. I didn't think I would like it as much as Daniel Silva's spy novels but I did!
