Excellent audiobook!! I've listened to about 6 books this year in this genre, and this is by far the best.
I, like others, found it hard to stop listening and get on to other things that I was supposed to do.
The narrator does and excellent job, the story is fast-paced, believable, and well-crafted.
I can't imagine anyone regretting getting this book; it's everything an audiobook should be.
Best audio book in my 3 year history with Audible.com. Great story, good character development and exciting all the way through. The plot was believable, realistic and unpredictable. The only flaw was the reader who gets a B-.
The narration for this book was excellent. The characters were interesting, and used to help the Western reader try to understand the varying motivations of the disparate characters. Even the smaller characters had something interesting to add. I very much enjoyed "reading" this book. Although obviously fictional, enough of its themes are drawn from headlines, and the facts from technical journals to give it a realistic undertone.
This is a greet book I have listen to it twice already, and that is not just because I did not have the money to by another book.
Is that the real James bond? This seems more realistic then the old one. You remember him 007 (only when you play with it)
Or maybe it is because I can relate to this it seems to be more percent day. After some time I was wondering if this is really or fiction.
A gripping yarn about just how easily terrorists could penetrate the porous defenses of the U.S. and wreak devasting mayhem. Unlike many books of this genre, the novel captures the behind the scenes workings of intelligence agencies, their blunders and bureaucratic plodding, in a realistic plot with believable characters. No superheroes here. Well narrated and engaging right until the very end.
This is a sleeper, meaning if you don't move through the first couple chapters, you'll miss one of the best stories yet. You'll enjoy it.
Unlike many of these thrillers, the author shows the motivation for the actions of the terrorists without reducing the evil actions they seek to perform. This adds to the believability of the book and ultimately provides an extremely good read.
I was not familiar with this author and don't normally read political thrillers but - what a great book! It kept me alert and anxious to hear more during a 14-hour drive. I appreciated the balance shown in understanding the perspectives of east-west conflict, and also the balance between drama and everyday detail. Highly recommended.
I was fully cognizant, when I purchased this audio book, that it was a work of fiction but it was so real it was scary. Can't help but feel that this is going on in the world as I type. Makes me more aware of the political tug-of-war that goes on between the CIA & FBI and the "no sharing information" rule.
