I like espionage thrillers and read all of Vince Flynn's books, who incidently recommended this book. All I can say is that he can learn from Flynn as how to keep suspense going. I could not stop listening to the Flynn series, and it took me about two weeks to finish this one as I lost interest along the way. The narrator was just OK.
Long gone is the Afghanistan war where good and evil was clear.
Set 3 months after 9/11 this novel dates badly.
Although well written (hence 2 stars) 'The Faithful Spy' is a cynical exploitation of American patriotism of a bygone era and should come with a health warning... 'Not for consumption in the real world'.
I listened to the unabridged edition & was very impressed with the way the plot unfolded & the unexpected ending. Additionally the narrator Robertson Dean belongs right up there with Scott Brick. Eagerly awaiting Audible to have more books by Alex Berenson
I loved this book for its Clancy-like details coupled with a spellbinding story filled with suspense, excitement, and current-event tidbits. I wish he had another book -- I would start it immediately.
I like action, and this book, though well written, didn't have much. All the character analysis and history add nothing. Could be cut by 75% and not lose the plot.
The author does a great job in developing the
main characters in a grim story that is so current. The pace is non-stop and riveting.
The narrator is excellent. Did not want it to be over. Well worth
