Yes, it is a wonderful continuation of the Virgin River saga which I'm hooked on. Wish it would go on and on but all good things do have to come to and end sometime. The characters are so engaging and have very real personalities.
Yes, the previous Robyn Carr books all set around Virgin River. They were all done very well. Great voice changes for the characters.
Yes, but that was not possible because of the length of the book and unfortuately I had to go to work.
I normally ONLY read historical romance. I will be buying more books from this author. the story was fabulous and the reader was great. The down side (only) is the -HE SAID....SHE SAID ... it was distracting and not needed . Over All ....I am very impressed with this author and her story lines.
Back to Virgin River! This is the second book in the series and I loved the first one so I signed up for the next story! Will not disappoint! Sweet story has everything!
I am a 43 year old mother of 4, I have a great husband and I am a nurse. I love to spend time with my family and ride atv's. Romance and humerous books are my favorite and I am currently listening to a lot of amish romance books.
All the virgin river books are great! Once you start listening you will not want to stop!
All the characters are great.
Yes she always does a great job.
A love worth fighting for.
I have listened to this book twice. THerese Plummer is a wonderful narator. she makes every character so believable. The story grabbed my interest from the beginning and all the twists kept my interest till the end. I would like to see another Virgin River book pick the story up of Preacher and Paige where this left off.
The first time Preacher and Paige made love. and also the first time Preacher showed his love and concern for Christopher.
Preacher by far. She just captured what I feel is his personality.
Again, when Preacher and Paige first made love. He was so afraid that he would hurt her, and the way he so worshiped her and respected her.
Please give more of the Preacher and Paige story.
Yes, the narrator has a very pleasant voice and I enjoy listening to books as I drive.
Any of the other Virgin River books
When they bought the house
I wish you would send these sooner. I am almost finished listening to my next book and I am reading another book so it is hard to remember.
Shelter Mountain continues the story of a fictitious out of the way town in the giant redwood area of California. I'm enjoying the stories, the continuing characters and even Robyn Carr's making her characters moral examples for us all. Can't wait to start the third book.
I love to listen to audible books while I am on the treadmill and while I knit / crochet - totally enjoyable and lots of exercise and socks made!
The integrity of the characters, even including a man who "lives outside the law" but has scruples with regard to others in the stories.
She's an excellent narrator - even using some incorrect grammar that I believe would be used by some of the characters....
An enjoyable read, on its own or as part of the series. I originally listened to the books as I came upon them and enjoyed them so much I listened to them again in order.
Short Version: The story was pleasant and homey... enough so that I purchased the third book in the series. I would be ashamed to recommend it to anyone I know, though.
Long Version: This story takes simplicity to new levels of simpledom. Seriously. The tale is linear, inevitable, and without many surprises. But, it's also a little bit like life, and one can just sink into these characters and become immersed in their lives.
The narration is atrocious yet pleasant; I have no idea how she pulls it off. She has zero consistency and very little variation between the voices. The Hispanic character sometimes has an accent, sometimes sounds like the main character, and is sometimes a mishmash of both. And yet, Ms. Plummer is very pleasant to listen to, and she somehow manages not to ruin the book for me.
Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of the romance genre. That said, this book offended me from time to time. A female character curled up like a little kitten in her big hulking man's lap. Really? Sheesh. Numerous mention was made of the Hispanic character's fiery and roving Latin ways. Another sheesh. So, I can't recommend this book, but I can't really not recommend it, either. It somehow manages to rise above its many flaws.
