The book was very good. It was a unique view of the story of Oz. The ending left me wanting more. (there are two more books) My only real complaint is that it seems to say the was only bad because everyone picked on her and she was an outsider. I think she liked being the odd one.
I wish you could half star as I would give it 3.4 stars. (I round down not up hence 3 Stars)
Plausible and interesting. A completely different take on an old story and in a not too unbelievable sort of way.
Okay, I have not seen the musical but can only conclude that a lot must have been omitted or changed to achieve a broadway hit. This book is just sort of weird and a little boring. I was more or less relieved when it was done.
My sister saw the play and loved it. So I was excited to get this in audiobook. And though it had lots of promise, I haven't been able to finish it. It is just too crass and painfully slow.
"Hi My name is Ali and I'm an Audible addict." "Hi Ali!"
I was surprised. I knew about the book for years and also was aware of the musical --haven't seen the musical yet, but the story is pretty good. The audio is excellent and the story line is creative and entertaining. It's a good purchase and even a better credit worthy choice.
I'm in love with her! I see so much of me in her. I've still about 20 minutes until the end of the book, and even though I know how the story ends according to the movie, I'm hoping for a surprise twist wherein the Witch comes out victorious!
This book had me hooked from go.
It a look a little while to get into the style of the book and then it was quite good for a while. It is WAY too long, though and I never did finish it. It started to move too slowly.
This is the perfect sort of tale for an audiobook! I was sad when it ended. The characters, setting, and writing are all inventive and engaging. Perfect for a long trip with friends and family -- who doesn't love The Wizard of Oz?
