    "A MUST!! I bought all 3 & listened twice!"

If you liked Harry Potter you will love this book. If you didn't like Harry Potter, you will still love this book. Funny, creative, the entire story will keep you wanting more. Be sure to listen to this story while you have a lot of time. You wont be able to turn it off! I don't want to tell you about the story. I don't want to ruin a great thing. Enjoy!

    "Refreshing"

This book presented a fresh look at fantasy fiction interweaving the real world with the fantasy world. buying in to a 12 year old genius is easy to do, however, buying into the same 12 year old with the street smarts of a veteran mob member is a little bit of a stretch. It was easier imagining the elves existed. Overall a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a shorter fantasy book.

    "Super entertaining"

This was an all around perfect listen. If you are looking for something light and entertaining that will make you chuckle at times, this one should meet the mark.
The narrator does an excellent job of entertaining during the read.
The story is excellent but light, creative and fast moving.
I highly recommend it. It would be a great listen during a family drive with mid-age kids 5 to 15.

    "Fun for kids and adults"

Artemis Fowl lived up to all my expectations of a book in this genre. Fun and easy listening. Sometimes I didn't want to turn the car off because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!

    "Fun for All"

This series has become one of my all time favorites. I would say only Potter ranks higher than this.

As a youth I was not much into reading. If I had these books when younger I would have spent far more time infront of book than the tv.

Read - Listen to them all. You will not regret it.

    "A strong beginning"

I've read the series before, and seeing it in audio form was irresistible for me. The Irish accents made this richer than the print version.

"Great Beginning to an Awesome Series!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Artemis Fowl to be better than the print version?

I didn't read it in print form but after finishing all 8 books I ran across this first book at a book sale and picked it up for some kiddies in my life. I imagine the experience is different but just as fun.

What other book might you compare Artemis Fowl to and why?

I discovered this book (and series) after researching books suggested by readers who liked other books I enjoyed (anything by Rick Riordan, Pittacus Lore books, etc.) I wanted to find an enjoyable series that wasn't too sexual or dark...instead full of clever and mystical fun stuff. This book is exactly that- clever, fun, just a good time- which lines up most closely with Rick Riordan's stuff but probably is sort of close to Harry Potter too.

What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?

I love the accents and voice changes for characters- they weren't to silly but I could tell when another character was talking. Listening to this book was great fun.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could have listened this way I probably would have... however, I listen when doing housework, walking outside, etc. I don't doubt that my house sparkles and my neighborhood has been circled many times over just to have more listening time.

    Any additional comments?

This book sets up important relationships and establishes character traits that will be important later in the series.

    "Love love love it"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This is the first in a series. We were looking for a new series for my daughter. I appreciated most of the reviews are from kids so we ordered it. She loved it. Cant stop listening to it. We looked at the second in the series but she also looked at the book. It has drawings, maps etc so she is requesting to read that one. However I am sure she will want the audio also since she loves listening to books. When a book is on she sits on the floor and constructs legos. The tv is off and so is she. Quiet time of brain engagement. This is a wonderful story with adventure and magical lands.

What does Nathaniel Parker bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is a wonderful narrator and brings the characters to life. I have heard him in other books and he is a selling point for the audio.

    Any additional comments?

Its a good start to a new fun series.

    "Entertaining read for the family"
Where does Artemis Fowl rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was the first audiobook I listened to, so I didn't have a baseline. But I have since listened to Revenge of the Witch by Joseph Delany. Artemis Fowl is entertaining, but in my opinion, it seems to be a little unbelievable. I know this is fiction, but as a 12 year old, he has a masterful sense of strategy and foresight that no 12 year old would ever have. Not even a boy genius.

What about Nathaniel Parker’s performance did you like?

He did a great job on creating unique voices for the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    No. Not really.

    Any additional comments?

The quality of the audio was "tinny" and "noisy". If it would have been clear, I would have rated this title better.

    "Fun and Easy"

This book was fun. If you are in need of a light read this is a good choice. It is fairly short (under 6hrs) and does not get bogged down, it just keeps moving.

The narrator was supreme. His accents, inflections, and choices for voices were spot on perfect. Editing was also done well, no weird background noises or funky spacing.
