I loved how smart and cunning the main character was
I loved his voice and inflection. I also loved the way his voice changed when reading for each character.
It did make me laugh at some of the characters in the story.
My first impression of this book was that it was well narrated, light and amusing, and I would probably listen to the entire series. Yay. What fun. By the time the book was over, I realized that I just wasn't up for any more potty humor and, since it was pervasive in this volume, I see little reason to expect it to be absent from further ones. Too bad. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that the book was aimed at a stereotypical preadolescent boy's sensibilities.
Even with the too-much-bowels caveat, the story does, ahem, move right along and the narrator is very good.
good for all
the abilities of the bodygaurd and his relationship to artemis.
the capture of the fairy.
yes...but I like to strech it out and listen while I am on my milk route.
It's a short listen perfect for a flight or a long drive. And you can listen to it with your kids and you will all enjoy it.
when butler fought the troll
It was a fun listen. Also interesting enough that I would like to pursue the series
the description of how a Dwarf tunnels through the earth.
I liked Nathaniel Parker's voice and inflections. I don't get the inflections when I'm reading words.
when Holly healed Butler
I love good books and great narrators. Love urban fantasy, sci fi, romance, mystery, murder, and mayhem with lots of humor and sarcasm.
Hilarious beginning to the life of Artemis Fowl, a 12 year old boy in Ireland. Lots more style than Harry Potter, the magic in his world is well structured. Nathaniel Parker's performance matches the excellence of the book. Well worth the money.
A good solid listen
The imaginative world the author creates. Also, there isn't really a good or a bad guy. As listeners we end up liking both sides of the conflict.
This is obviously a book for younger listeners. As an adult I still enjoyed it. It wasn't my all time favorite, but I liked it enough to continue to purchase more books by the same author.
The story and characters were very good but the reader did an outstanding job
the information was delivered in an entertaining manner
he uses the storyline to get information across
I read equal parts NF + F: (Follet + Tolstoy + Hillenbrand + Monk Kidd + Preston+Child), practical, hands on guides, + KidLit.
This was a solid middle-grade novel. Fast-paced plot, lots of adventure and action, interesting characters. My only unfulfilled desire is that I didn't learn enough about the main character of the novel, Artemis Fowl. I feel that I learned more about his body guard, Butler, and the fairy, Holly Short, and even her boss, "Root", than I did the MC, which left a bit of a hole for me, not being able to care one way or another about the MC although I wanted to, hence the 4-star rating.
The narration for this book was excellent - authentic Irish accents and brought life to the various members of the fairy community. Great car read for families.
