I have purchased other audio books by Chelsea Handler and they are very entertaining. I think it helps when she narrates them versus someone else as was the case with this book. It seemed as though the narrator was rather monotone and more difficult to listen to than Chelsea herself.
I would recommend it this book to a friend to have the experience if they are a Chelsea fan but otherwise this wouldn't be of much interest. It was somewhat dull but some stories were funny.
I much prefered her other books since I think she got better as she progressed as an author.
The naration was fine- not bad or great. It is not the same as having Chelsea read her own story but I'd say it was probably the best a different person could do.
I doubt this would make a good movie as it is a somewhat random compilation rather than a story start to finish.
Yes, Chelsea Handler is so funny and you can't help but laugh at her stories.
Chelsea is my favorite character. Is there even another logical option?
She did ok. However, I have read an audiobook that Chelsea Handler narrated herself and it was amazing. Listening to someone else after listening to Chelsea just wasn't the same. So this has caused her to have an unfair rating. But it is a fact, she did not do as good as Chelsea did.
Why I Don't Give a Sh-t
Kind of a waste of time. This is a book about her sexual encounters, which were apparently not very good. Only a few interesting stories. She seemed more interested in the drama around relationships than in sex. SInce I really like her TV show on E! I was disappointed.
Talk about how some of the good sexual experiences you had, instead of the uncomfortable ones.
The fact that the reader brought out Chelsea's complete sense of humor.
Chelsea. Because she is independent, resourceful, knows how to have a good time and most if all- is always herself even when she is lying.
Laughed out loud !
Enjoyed this and went on the next
Say something about yourself!
This was recommended to me by a couple people, and its not for the really straight laced type. Its modern and sexually upfront, and pretty entertaining and enjoyable as a listen. If you liked the show Sex in the City, chances are you'll enjoy this book.
I will start by saying I love Chelsea Handler, She is hysterical, real and ballsy! I like that because she says what everyone wants to but doesn't. I am not sure if it is because Chelsea Handler was not the narrator or it just wasn't as funny as her other books. However, it was entertaining. It is what it is. I did have some laugh out loud moments. If you just want to read this in order to read Lies Chelsea Handler told then I say go for it.
I think this was an okay story with not too much of a point. There weren’t really any highs or lows or turning points. She really just slept around and drank a lot. I guess that’s the point of the story and at the end her dads like she should write a book about all the people she slept with and she thinks its dumb so I guess that could also be the point but overall it did seem dumb. It wasn’t really sad or funny or anything it was like listening to a whore ramble. But the narrator was great at telling the nonsense.
It's not funny in the least. It's nothing but a slut telling the world about her slutiness and it's filled with profanities. Don't waste your money!
Unlike reviewers who are taking the material way too seriously or can't appreciate Handler's style of humor, I found the stories entertaining. The narrator, on the other hand, is the wrong choice for this type of book. She waters down most of the humor with her soothing, monotone voice. Too bad Handler isn't doing this performance. At least she knows how to deliver her own material, as is evident in the audio presentation of Are You There, Vodka...
