I read the books and loved them so I bought the audio books and listened to them and it was like a new story all over again. The narrators were amazing!
Very well read and a great story.
Different topic - interesting
She is clear, and makes you feel you are in the story yourself.
I have never seen the print version, so I cant compare
At the end of the book where Mac comes into her own when she begins to fight the hourdes of monsters. That is pretty cool.
Not so much as a favorite scene, but I enjoy the insight of Mac and her southern background. She is very down to Earth. She is stubborn and a bit reliant on her girlie things like pink nailpolish and matching sandals, but she has great morals and she cares. She goes into a speech about how you can only live life two ways, with hope or with fear. I thought that speech was so moving, I paused the recording and wrote it down to share with my husband. It was very uplifting.
Georgia Peach Meets the things that go bump in the night.
So, the front cover of the book is a hot, steamy naked couple. Im expecting the usual in this book, a boy girl romance. The girl loves the guy and cant tell him, the guy loves the girl but wont even admit it to himself until its almost too late, a lot of longing then hot sex weaved into a paranormal circumstance. Nope, this is all paranormal circumstance and zero hot sex. Unusual but its true. There is no relationship at all between boy and girl really, but dont let that scare you away. The story is really good and kept me coming back for more. wink. Also, the narration I have to comment on. I am from Georgia just like our heroine, so lets just say Im an authority on a Georgian accent. When I listen to the story, its like Blanch from the Golden girls is reading it. If your clueless as to what that means, well lets just say its a little exagerated. Dont get me wrong, the story was read with correct expression, like I said, its just a bit over exagerated. The Irish accents of the characters are awesome but the tones are little off. The man in the story, Jericho, is supposed to be some really dark handsome, young guy. He sounds like an elderly leprachaun. I have to keep telling myself he is young and good looking even though he sounds like an 89 year old, stumped over nursing home resident! Despite these misgivings. I plan to listen to the entire series. The story really is good.
I would listen to this book again just so I wouldn't miss anything. I have read the whole series and loved it, am now listening to the audios.
I liked the story line and how the main characters interact.
Joyce Bean does an excellent job of narrating. I have listened to other books she narrated and I think she is great. I search for books narrated by her.
I could have listened to this book in one sitting, unfortunately time did not allow.
I am looking forward to the rest of the series on audio.
This book has a great story line.
The unsuspecting twists and turns.
The reader makes Barens sounds like a gravely old guy when he's really in his 30s. That's a bit hard to listen to, but otherwise, I really enjoyed it.
I am a Youth Services Librarian at a public library and I love my job. I am also a runner and I love listening to great books while staying healthy. That's Elsie in the picture...she is my favorite running partner and typically perks her ears up during the tense portions of the books :)
For the most part, I did like the reader. The story was a little different than I thought it was going to be and there was just too much world building in this first one and not really enough story. I was really frustrated with Mac's inability to accept the Fae world that she is now a part of.
I will eventually finish the series, because I think I will like the others better.
Mac was a good character with her Southern drawl.
Great start to the series. Kept me on the edge of my seat often. Great suspense. Joyce Bean does a great job with the different character voices. Wish she was around for books 4 & 5
the voice was like nails on a chalk board.the leading lady was the one person who will send you screaming the other way.
it took 5 trys to get through this book and i only maid it because i was out of credits.
Dont do it. I tried twice to listen to this book. Thought the first time I wasnt in the mood for this type of book so i gave it another chance. Mistake, it was just as terrible the second chance i gave it. Save your money/credits.
Great series of books that have everything, romance, mystery, fanstasy.I Love this series of books,as you listen they just keep getting better & better! Have not found anything better.
these audiobooks are very unique, highly recommend them!
The narrators flaws do not distract from the great story line
