Karen Marie Moning writes the best books. They are so good and you don't want to put them down. She is incredible writer!! All of her books are outstanding and they leave you wanting more!!
Like the romance, but love the action involved to get there!
So, you shop for a book on audible...you are into the paranormal romance thing and you see a cover that has a man and a woman pretty much naked, you read the description and it talks about mystical things so you buy it thinking it is a romance...it isn't! There might, and I repeat, MIGHT be something building towards a romance but since there isn't even any kissing IN THE ENTIRE BOOK you are left feeling robbed of your credit!
Now, once you get past the misrepresentation of the book and look at it for its actual story I have to say still disappointed! Interesting world...if you can keep up, but in some ways the same small bit of the story is beaten into the pages over and over and over again...yet the important parts that actually matter are flittered by so quickly you actually find yourself rewinding saying...humm...when did they go into that, I barely remember anything about that.
Then again a lot of what was going on made no sense. I chastised myself for maybe being too distracted and listened to the whole book again....nope, it's not me, it's the book. Okay, I am not a delusional person who thinks I can write better than people who actually get paid to write, but I as a listener I like to know a few things...for example, who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? Now granted sometimes these things change mid stream in a book, that is called plot and I get that...but there is literally NO character that you say "Oh he's a good guy"...so instead of the story building momentum and you becoming invested in the story and characters the whole thing just leaves you feeling unsure if you understand ANYTHING in story.
As for the narrator...I LIVE in Georgia, and why a character that is supposed to be a blond, Caucasian, southern bell sounds like a throwback to a 1850's southern slave I will NEVER understand! You can be southern without sounding like you stepped out of the color purple people!
There are many people that LOVE this series…I even got book two to see if maybe I just wasn’t getting the whole picture…once again, no, it’s not me it’s the book! The same review could be written for book two…confusing story, no momentum, can’t tell who is good, and with the exception of ONE throw down on the floor that didn’t even end in consummation I was left utterly wanting in the romance department. If anyone out there wants a real paranormal romance try the Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward, THAT is paranormal romance!
I just didn???t get the whole sex by death fae thing. He was just kind of thrown in there. But I did like Barrons, he reminded me of Eric Northman!
I love books, it's my great escape.
First in a great series. I loved it and I think you will too. Great character development. I was on the edge of my seat every minute.
I love this author but I cant listen another minute about the heroines disbelief, hair, clothers and nails. I don't think I will listen to the other books at all. So dissappointing.
I was sceptical about this, but decided to listen to the recommendations of several friends and was pleasantly surprised.
I was drawn in almost immediately and couldn't stop until I had listened to all of the available books in the series.
