I love the book. It is a beautiful love story, beautifully written. It has an important message about love, loving someone, and being loved. I didn't want the story to end, and in my heart it hasn't. It's just beginning!
The narration was perfect at capturing the raw emotion. As soon as i heard the first words, "it's raining annie", i knew i was going to be captured by the melancholy of this story. The narrator was able to put me instantly into the hearts and souls of these two young girls in love. She was able to convey the love and joy underneath the confusion and difficult situations, and not in a sad depressing way. I was unable to do anything other than stare out the window as this story was told. I was transported into the world of the story, helpless to do anything else until the narrator was finished telling this deeply personal and touching tale.
I loved the gentle, honest story of Annie and Liza. I was captivated from the moment I started listening. It gives me hope. Although it is categorized as a "teen" novel, I am approaching 40 years of age, and just coming in to who I am, and this story, although fiction, has brought me such beautiful clarity! Rebecca Lowman's reading of this beautiful, timeless tale is perfect. Her sincerity is obvious, and the characters take on a life of their own. After Rebecca's reading, the author, Nancy Garden, speaks to the reader. It's fantastic.
I really thank the author,Nancy Garden who wanted to share the true meaning of love between two same genders. This book encouraged me to open my mind wider. Her interview was also impressive.
I hope you will also enjoy too.
The careful and slow pace of Rebecca Lowman kept us in the moment. It was nice to hear the character thinking and feeling so carefully which added to the overall qualities of the book.
This was a book that I did complete in 24 hours. Every time I paused it in places because I was worried it would all go rotten, the authentic would find ways to make it beautiful or (in case of actually bad situations) ok.
This is a very special book. I thought it was excellent and a very good story - would highly recommend.
A sweet retelling of a meaningful, first relationship in the main characters life, that keeps a pleasant taste in your mouth afterwards. One of the only feel good lesbian romances I have read, a story of love told with the seccinct, uncomplicated and unmlodramatics of hind sight. A first person narration that felt at times as though it were in third.
It was satisfying to see a book where rediculously evil characters are reprimanded and loved ones were forgiving and understanding. A realistic world where people can still be a little prejudiced and also be good people. It's also nice to see a story where parents are not a bad guy any shape or form, just human.
It was beautiful and satisfying in the way the events played out.
Tell us about yourself!
This is a wonderful book that every teenager should read. It is a great story of Love, finding who you are and all the struggles of being a teenager.
