I have read almost all of the Harry Bosch series and am truly enjoying this character! My mother was a police officer, as are a few of my close friends and Connelly nails the PD lifestyle and work environment. The Harry Bosch character was written with so much depth, one forgets he's a fictional character! I recommend all in the series!
It was difficult for me to get interested in this one, because the narration was awful!
Again Connelly has written super book about Harry Bosch, I beleive it is on of the best Bosch novel I have heard and I have heard most of Connellys books. I much exchitement and suspence, with a lot of twist and turns, everything you hear(read) is important later in teh book - HEAR IT !
This is my first experience with the author so I wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't disappointed. I did look forward to getting in the car and listening to it because there was a pretty good amount of suspense involved. But, I found it a little predictable and thought the ending was a little flat.
It was a fun book to listen to. Being a retired female police officer/detective in my state's most violent city, I was pleased that Bosch was not portrayed as perfect, and that his impulsiveness is more real than an "always by the book" cop. The FBI agent was as stiff and rigid as I remember them being. That "always right" attitude was accurate. Although very bright, they never seemed to be able to think for themselves, doing only what they were told to do brought back good memories.
This is Michael Connley's newest book. I've listened to them all and enjoy the Harry Bosh character more than just about any other character I can think of. The story is compelling and has many twists and turns. I highly recommend it.
