You will stay out of the shower and avoid soap after you read this. The story is spell binding. The reader is Scott Brick, need I say more. Like some authors he ends poorly or tries too. He makes a good landing. This is not like Koontz's The Husband, Terrible ending. This book kept me in the car so I could finish it. You will enjoy the book if you do not mind body parts. Happy reading.
This was the most unbelieveable, disconnected, disappointing book I have ever listened to. I kept praying that it would get better and perhaps an interesting twist would arise. No, no, and no. Can I please give half a star?
I love me some audiobooks
This is the second audiobook by this author that I’ve listen to and both have left me questioning if I want to continue with any more of his books. In both cases the stories have interesting themes but things seem too slow and anticlimactic for a suspense type novel. Furthermore, the villains move through the story doing their evil with an unrealistic nearly supernatural ease.
This author does not seem to tell an intriguing story like the “earlier” Michael Connelly novels nor do they deliver the satirical comic wit of authors like Nelson DeMille. This is not a “bad” audiobook but definitely not one I’d listen to again.
This is my first John Lutz/Scott Brick collaboration, and it certainly won't be my last. An edge-of-the-seat thriller, with a few surprises along the way. I couldn't stop listening, and finished in 2 days!
Long commutes have turned me into a dedicated Audible fan. Looking at my stats I can't believe I have 825 titles in my Library.
but not that much. Not enough for 4 stars. Grisly murders and a fairly predictable plot. Some of the interpersonal relationships just don't add to the story. The climax was suspenceful but in a irritating , come on, get on with it fashion.
Not the best I've read but not the worst.
I don't know if it was me or what, but I still can't name all of the characters of this book. I listened to the first part at least 4 times. When I listened to the last part I would just shake my head and say where did that person come from? I don't remember him. I can't wait to read other reviews and see what others thought. I did not like it.
This is supposed to be a police procedural. However, the author seems to know nothing about police procedure--either that or he decided to leave it out of this book. You are led to believe that the protagonist is a super sleuth, but he spends most of the book just sitting around waiting to get lucky. I listened to the whole thing, but I was mostly hoping that it would simply end.
The plot and characters were a good read, but the narrator was rediculously dramatic. He should go back to the basics or quit, in my opinion he destroyed this book. The ending didn't please me, but I can't complain without giving it away.
