Could not stop
When they think that they have won the games.
Her range of emotion and variations in the characters is great.
The story, characters, and overall theme of the book keeps you engaged from start to finish. A great read for all ages.
Her narration of the story was wonderful. You could clearly grasp the scenery and images in great imaginative detail. A first class narrator.
Yes it was.
This has to be one of my favorite series I have had the immense pleasuring of listening to since becoming an audible member. I was instantly drawn into the incredible world created by Suzanne Collins. She does such a thorough job crafting the world that I felt as though I could see with the main character's eyes and smell with her nose, even taste her lamb stew!
Katniss Everding, of course. The protagonist is a wonderfully strong and capable young girl who is used to surviving. I loved tapping into her strength and sparking a rebellion with her.
She is an incredibly gifted narrator. I thought she did a superb job changing her voice for different people and she stayed true to her
When the youngest tribute was killed. I was crying for at least a half hour in my bed. This author is truly amazing.
This was my favorite book of the series. The second one was a little slow for me and the third one was a little too gruesome, but honestly I would re-read this series in a heart beat. I actually probably will in a few months from now. Thank you for a fantastic story, I'm just sorry that there are only three books.
Travel a lot for work and spend a good deal of time in the car.
This book was excellent. Great characters, great story. This book is a future classic. I think in falls in the same lane as 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and Cat's Cradle.
This ranks in the top 10.
Catniss, very smart,charming and brave
Catniss, her pitches and tones made her come alive.
Rue. She was so young and vulnerable and clearly the victim of her circumstance and time.
Her voice and how she enunciate the words to evoke a other-worldly time of history. Brought out many facets of Katniss' personality.
My husband and I are not sure we can handle the next book.
The Hunger Games is much better than others! (I've only listened to a few books though)
I was never lost/left in the dust to figure out terminology on my own – the story had a strange but powerful way of balancing definition, reminiscing, and present action.
As with any listening in comparison to reading, I feel more free to visualize the story.
YES! But I sadly had to stop a few times!
Odd how District 12 is not really fantasy...sounds frighteningly similar to a certain North Korea. I hope this trilogy causes young people to seriously consider the world around them.
Riveting, exciting, and unique!
It is futuristic and reminds me of books by Margaret Atwood, but also makes me think of the short story The Most Dangerous Game.
No, but I thought her performance was very good.
Yes, most definitely!
Although i'm not a fan of sci-fi/fantasy books, I thought i'd give this book a listen since it came so heavily recommended. Little did I know i'd be sucked into the book so much!! I couldn't wait to see what would happen next!! As the last lines were read, i hungered for more, so I downloaded the sequels!!! Awesome, awesome!!! A must have!!!
Wow! From the moment I started listening I could not stop!! I literally cancelled plans so I could stay home to finish this! At first I did not love the narraters voice, but it grew on me!
