This is a great book. The story is riveting. The narrator has an English accent, but the story is in north America. Someone needs to tell her how to say mutation.
Listened to this book in about two sittings on both legs of a long road trip, and i must say, we couldn't "put it down" we were listening to it for ten minute drives to the grocery store, and whenever we had a chance... Cant wait to see if the next ones in the series are this good.
This is a story about a young girl, but not a child's story. Fast paced, creative and well written, it will get you involved and keep you there right to the end.
I got this book as a bribe to my 14 yo daughter to take a boring 3 hour ride in the car with me. It's definitely a YA book, but really - who's not a kid at heart? Once we were home, I found myself sneaking listens on errands in the car and guiltily confessing that I had gotten ahead in our shared book. Little did I know, my daughter was sneaking listens on her computer while I was out! The narrator was ok - not my favorite. But, the story was exciting enough to keep me listening. The movie is currently being filmed near where we live and after reading the book, I can see why it's perfect for the screen. Fantastical creatures, oppressors vs. the oppressed, fashion, beauty, romance, life and death suspense - and a chick who can shoot you dead with a bow and arrow. Whoa. I want one. We'll be getting the next in the series for our drive to the beach next week. It's great to share a book with my kid.
This was a fantastic book to listen to. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. It was fascinating and the narrator made it all that much better! I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series!
Couldnt put this one down. Had a lot of fun listening and will listen to the rest next. GET THIS BOOK.
The Narrator was great!
I didn't know anything about this series when I started listening to this book, and I ended up downloading all three books and listened to them in about 2 weeks! Really fun :)
I love books! All kinds... classics, mysteries, Christian fiction, suspense and action! I'm also a sucker for anything romantic. ;) And just recently started getting into some non-fiction, philosophical books.
I've seen this book for a while on audible, and I've had my eye on it, but for some reason just kept passing on it. When I saw it this last time, I bit the bullet and downloaded it. I couldn't be happier with my decision, now that I've finished it, in less than a week! I'm also currently downloading the two sequels.
The characters are engaging and you CARE about them! I hate books that just kind of tell a story that doesn't make you love the characters. I cried, I laughed, I raged. I'm 28, and this book is definitely not ONLY for young adults. I loved it, and I can't wait to finish the story and find out what happens!
I read and listen to many different types of books. Some books are just better when read, rather than listened-to. For me, this may be one of those books. Her reading was not horrible, but it kept taking me out of the story. It was as if she were reading to a noisy group and trying hard to be heard (not a volume issue, but a tone issue). I must give the author credit for some original ideas and interesting plot points, but I guess I'm just not the desired demographic for this series (I'm 54).
Sometimes there's a book that feels as if it was specifically written to be read aloud and this is one of them. Everything from the story to the narration was excellent. If you're a fan of dystopian novels you won't be disappointed.
