Yes ,just a great listen.
None, just a great book end to end
If you get one book this year, get this one.
I'm new to Audio-books and already hooked.
... I had been avoiding it for awhile, but was totally engrossed. Really liked the narrator.
Multigenerational 20th century story of a small town in Georgia. I was captivated from the first and couldn't wait for the next chapter. Told through the eyes of three police chiefs, it's the story of change in the south...with a dark side.
This is the first Stuart Woods book that I've read but it won't be my last. Lots of action and suspense. I highly recommend this book.
Listening while I run.
This book is full of complex and interesting characters - good and bad. Great story - you can sense that Woods had a personal connection with this early work. This book was written in 1981 but it holds up. Credit worthy - yep!
I remember watching the TV Mini-Series based on this book, which followed the novel beat for beat. Which means I knew the entire story before listening to the book. However there is enough depth and emotion in this story to keep my attention, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen. Perfect story for a lengthy road trip.
I learned about the foibles of man and the overreaching proud men who allowed something awful to go on in their town for years, while doing despicable things themselves.
Had to keep listening though I had finished walking my dogs!
I will look for more of Stuart Woods. Thank you.
Mr. Hammer is perfect with his languid delivery. The voices of the characters worked for me. The story manifests disturbing race relations and a suspected serial killer.
I could stop listening to this novel. Even though you know what is going to happen the character are so compelling you want to listen more.
Measured, thought, and southern.
This was a great listen.
I could hardly put it down!
Mark Hammer's delivery was a little slow at times but his voice seem to fit the story.
This is the best Stuart Woods I've read. I didn't know he had the depth that was required to tell this story.
