What a joy to remember Johnny Carson! The only bad thing about this book was that it made me miss him like crazy! It sent me running to my old videos from years back...so glad I taped those anniversary shows! If you loved Johnny, you'll love reliving the memories with Ed McMahon. Pure delight!
I agree with the the previous reviewer, the author should have let someone else read it- I now appreciate a good reader even more! You do get the impression that Mr McMahon did respect and like his boss and even now is the ultimate loyal friend and employee. This is not a tell-all, air dirty linen book but rather a warm and kind memoir.
I'm not sure why actor/authors think that because they are successful on screen/stage that they can successfully narrate a book! Ed McMahon would have done better if he had allowed someone else to do the reading. He was doing just that....reading and it didn't sound natural. There were some slow spots in the book that I literally fast forwarded through. All in all there were interesting parts and insight to Johnny Carson that I had not heard before.
