This narrator was wonderful, the voices were at times very humorious, which fits the book perfectly. What I thought was going to being another annoying summmer reading book for school was actually enjoyable. I highly recommend it!!!
It's a classic book made better by the narration. My 9 year old daughter loved it and has listened to it a many times. I've listened to it a few times with her the the funny parts are still hilarious.
before listening to the adventures of huckleberry finn, i would recommend listening to the study guide first; although the reading of huckleberry finn is very well done, and an extremely pleasant experience, i do not believe i would have accepted certain aspects of the book, with our present day vision, to truly appreciate the humanity shown for the timeframe the story is written
The reader doesn't do justice to the accents as written by Twain, but he is a pretty good reader once you get used to the idea that he isn't going to do them. It is, of course, a great book.
Interested in historical fiction, intriguing characters and foreign cultures.
I don't know how Twain became famous. I prefer authors who can paint a scene with words. Quickly gave up on this one.
There's absolutely no way I could have read this in book-form. It was way too wordy. Also, if you're uncomfortable hearing the word "nigger", avoid this book. I realize it was written before slavery was abolished and could overlook some of the racism, but it still made me uncomfortable in many places talking about slaves and all.
