The book itself, the story, was lovely. I wouldn't change anything.
ANYONE. The narration for the first few of these books was better, but by this book the accents and over-the-top overacting had me wincing, and turning off the book because I found it very annoying. There was an entire fight portion with a monster that I actually had to fast-forward through, because it was too bad for me to listen to. I was interested in that part of the story, but could not continue.
I realize this is a book for teens. I have 4 teenage children, and they laughed uproariously and with derision every time there was a new bad accent, to the point they couldn't hear the story. At one point my 14-year old daughter said, GOD MOM, TURN IT OFF, I CAN'T TAKE IT. Then she went on to read the book in print, because she wanted to know the story without that narration.
I really like this book because it is very funny and adventurous. The characters are great and adventurous. I recommend this book to anyone who likes humorous, action packed, well written books. The whole series is amazing and action packed and so are series two, the Kane chronicles, Magnus Chase and the trikes of Apollo.
the narrator struggled with accents invoices, and some characters accents even changed during the course of the book. Despite this the book was great and I enjoyed listening to this book. the book is adventure some and fun filled, I only wish I had started reading and listening to these books earlier in my life.
This is still the worst reader ever. Great book, terrible, terrible - painful - reading. I hope he's not married or God forbid, has female children. Every female character sounds like a whiner and most sound like a whiner from Long Island with a name that ends in "i"
Read it Again
Compared to the other books in the series I have to say that the Battle of the Labyrinth is by far MY Favorite. The only one that can trump this might be the last book in this series.
I love the way that it was written.
Percy Jackson, Jesse is the real life Percy.
I think when I was done, I had to listen to it once again.
