Ok, the BotL is one of the best books in the Percy Jackson series.... wait?! I love all of them!!! Well, the BotL is really great. I especially never get tired of hearing the bit where Kronos gets hit in the eye with a blue plastic hairbrush. I love Rachel!!! The narrator was great, though he did pronounce a few things differently than I did, but what narrator doesn't do that? I highly suggest the rest of the books, but if you're a dedicated demigod like me, you already know that. Peace, love, and blue plastic hairbrushes.
I can't get enough of the Percy Jackson series and because I'm always running around I listen to the books over and over again because I finish them so fast. That dos not mean I stop reading though, so I here one book and read a different book it's perfect.😄
this narrator needs to adjust his performance to the context of the story. there are parts where he begins tye character just fine but doesnt adjust his tone according to what happens. the fight in the maze arena was hard to listen to. the giant sounded like a whiney teen age girl from LA in the 90's
I absolutely love my audible account, makes its from enjoying a book to loving the stories found in the books. Do forgive my errors in the reviews i do have dyslexia but i will share my love with everyone
One more challenge. Why cant summer camp just be normal. Oh yeah Percy Jackson is a demigod one of the few at camp half blood. and when the evil Titan king is raising and he hates you and your camp. well you got to fight for survival. Defenses are up but there is one disadvantage. A secret door into the camp will let monsters in past the tree.
In this book Jesse Bernstein makes a change up. He goes from pronouncing Hera the American way to pronouncing it the Greek way. this is a big confusing moment to listeners but after a while you get use to it
I'm going to finish out the series so unfortunately I'm stuck with Berstein. He does the Percy Jackson voice well, I think that's the only thing I like about his performance. Everything else is really pretty flat, unoriginal and offensive. Once again, this book had an Asian character (like Annabeth's stepmom in Titan's Curse), and once again the Asian character had an over-the-top, stereotyped, what I'm sure they thought would be "comical," accent and it's racist and offensive. Also Tyson's voice is still horribly ableist. A lot of the other voices start to sound exactly the same, and the voices of female characters are always whiney and, like another reviewer said, up-talking (saying every sentence like it's a question).
All in all, the performance is boring and offensive on many levels, but I really love the books.
