An interesting follow up that definitly lacks something that the first book had. The trilogy is getting even darker and more violent.
I would recommend this book and I have! It is as good as the first book, in fact - I liked it better.
It takes a little time to get into the story, but the second half and ending are riveting! Loved it!
But I have to tell you that would be a good book genre mashup. On the whole I got what I expected a reasonably entertaining story with plot holes and strange turns. Logan's Run or even Soylent Green - now there is scifi!
1.) The story was good. 2.)The reader's performance was excellent. 3.) For a person who loves and needs long stories to listen to while performing menial task, This series was just what the doctor ordered!!!
After listening to Hunger Games, I finished the two final books in a 2 week period. I listened as much as possible and was pulled into the story. I really enjoyed how the author continued to build out the characters and depicted the internal strife so well. I highly recommend this series!
Just when I thought it will be a Harry Potter-like model all over again - the same structure of the story (summer, train, school, end of school year in HP, here - life in the districts, game announcement, games and post-games), the book turns itself into "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"! You have to read the last installment, since "Catching Fire" ends in a massive cliff-hanger. After several weeks you can even forget there the 2nd book ends and the last one begins in the story.
You will enjoy it. I flew through it in 2 (working!) days on my way to the great ending
yes i was super sad when one of the characters that i liked died and made me almost cry
