The writing style is a little more gritty than some books I have read, more detailed on the science side. But I like that, Ms. Gerritsen's style is refreshing, her characters are are well developed and I look forward to reading more of her books. I hope Audible gets the rest of her titles in unabridged formats soon.
This is the first of Gerritson's books I downloaded, and compared to the other authors/readers I have listened to, this book has got to be one of the worst. I find the narrators voice to be grating, to the extent that I probably won't even finish this book. This is the first book I have gotten from Audible that I haven't enjoyed. Very disappointing.
The storyline was engrossing as well as terrifying. It was one of those books I couldn't wait to get back to. The only downfall was the Bostonian accent sounded more like 'Jersey', but if you can look beyond that, it was a very worthy read.
This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. Her writing flows easily and she has you on the edge of your seat the whole time. It's one of those rare books where you are wishing it wouldn't end. My next book will be another one by Tess Gerritsen.
Definately a winner!
Admitedly, I am a Tess Gerritsen fan. This was my first "audio Gerritsen" and I wasn't disaapointed.....it kept my attention until the very end. The narrator was a little difficult to understand when she switched to a different charactor that had an accent.....but all and all it was a great listen!
I thought this was a really good listen. At times I was very disturbed about the situations with the women, that I had to turn the player off and listen after a few min. For a woman its your worst nightmare for yourself as well as for your daughters. I really liked the story and it always kept my attention!!
I loved this book, as I do most of Tess's books. It kept me glued to the Ipod again. I love the characters, especially Maura, and Jane. I recommend this book and Tess's books to anyone who loves mysteries.
Tess's books are rivitting. I love every one of them. I actually buy them in hard back also. I read them and listen to them. This one inparticular interested me more. I just really enjoyed the flow and ideas of this book.
Good story. Narrator did a decent enough job with most voices, except Jane's. However, the story & pace was strong, so Jane's voice wasn't such a big deal.
The story of the victim and all those that "vanish" is very poignant, graphic and disturbing. It, no doubt, is a terrible truth that is happening all over the world and certainly here in North America. Good for Tess Gerritsen to get us to confront it.
