Reading this book has opened my eyes and inspired me beyond words. Hearing first hand the life of a Guru gives me a perspective on the world that is very moving. I would highly recommend this book.
When I read this book 25 years ago, I fell in love with it. Imagine how excited I was when I found it here on Audible.com. THank you for providing such a foundational piece of work, dealing with many, many topics here on Earth, but above all, LOVE.
The Narrator has a wise edge to his voice without being overbearing. His Cadance allows the listener to experience the story without getting bored.
One special thing about this book is that you can begin listening anywhere and the story unfolds in a way that still engages you. Each chapter is a complete story.
I read this book about 35 years ago and it made a big impression on me. My daughter read it about 10 years ago and she says it changed her life. It has the feeling of truth to it and can make one believe in miracles even if you haven't experienced one.
Ben Kingsly does a great job reading it and Yogananda's words have inspired me all over again. I give it the highest rating!
Learnt a lot about power of self belief.
I still could not believe miracles happen. But after hearing of so many miracles as well as beliefs come true as explained in the book, I am now convinced that "believe in yourself" is what makes you who you are today and going to be in future.
By far the most profound inspirational book I have encountered. So beautifully the human condition is "ejaculated" into ones being. A message of hope, mastery, and mystery, delicately urging and gracefully leading one toward the path of Ascension. An adventure that captures the biblical metaphor of the "narrow gate" and "cramped road" in Matthew 7: vs13,14.
The wisdom of ancient India permits the accessibility for any seeker to understand the bible from a higher perspective. I have read before that when YHWH removed Enoch from the earth he ascended through the land of the Himalaya. Leading a trail for us to follow toward adventure and simple truths that do not require "a trip to the Himalaya". An inward path of wisdom and sheer bliss toward ultimate truths of our connection with the Supreme one.
The tiger tamer.
It reawakened my childhood earnestness to connect with God. My eyes had been covered by a glaze and fogged up through desires of the flesh and attachment to the tangible. I was lost and now I am found.
Thank you for this beautiful book! I also want to thank Ben Kingsley's skillfull oratory beingness that made the book come alive.
My hope is that all that is looking for the path of spirtuality listens to this amazingly beautiful autobiography. It brought tears to my eyes and often smiles to my face. Thank you for sharing your life with the world Paramahansa Yogananda.
Yes, but not for everyone. Because you would have to really care about this kind of topic/subject of meditation and be open minded regarding a spiritual existence.
I read this book because of "The Surrender Experiment" by Michael Singer because he mentioned it.
I really loved Ben Kingsley's performance. But I wondered if the voice should have had more of an Indian accent, still it was easy to listen to, I was not put off by it.
It didn't make me laugh or cry, but it did make me emotional and I feel like it expanded my mind and helped me become even more expectant that all things are possible.
Much more than just the story of an extraordinary individual, Autobiography of a Yogi explains the souls evolution, the cosmos and the Autobiography works we live in. This is a must read/ listen.
Ben Kinsley is fantastic, very relaxing. The story is also very informative and inspired me to learn more about India
