The premise seemed like fun, but the book was like a joke that was funny for a while, but kept on going...and going...and going... I didn't even finish listening.

I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. I was worried if this book would offend. Not only did it not offend, I found myself laughing out loud at the humor and additional zombie killing wit added by Seth Grahame-Smith. I would tell any friend of mine to read this book. I found myself quoting several passages to them and I hope he does another!! I would definitely read more!

I didn't expect it but the premise wore extremely thin within the first few hours of this sequel and I had a hard time sticking with it. The narration was pretty much the only thing that kept me going - if not for that, I probably would've cut it short and moved on. I need to remember that sequels are almost always less satisfactory than the original in a series and either adjust my expectations or forgo them altogether.

Surprisingly well done! Seth Grahme-Smith does an excellent job respectfully adding a zombie twist to the ever loved, Jane Austen classic PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. With PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES readers can expect Austin’s original tale of 19th Century English society, a great masterpiece, with the added quirky humor of Grahme-Smith’s skillfully infused zombie…*ehem* I mean 'unmentionables' sub-plot. I loved the original sassy battle of the sexes and thoroughly enjoyed this even cheekier “vintage horror” version. PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES is truly a fun read and definitely worth a look if you are a P&P fan, or are just looking for a smart laugh.

This one was hard for me to get into. For some reason I just kept...drifting. This is great if you listen to books to help you get through mundane tasks as I often do (gardening, or cleaning, for example). But I didn't find it riveting. Of course I know Pride and Prejudice so I didn't HAVE to follow it closely. As for the violence mingled with Austen's writing style and plot, it is an amusing novelty that wears thin after a while. I didn't find it offensive in the least as many reviewers on here did, I thought it was kind of refreshing...But I can't give it a high rating. Buy it if you want a little something to giggle about, but don't expect too much.

Ha! What to say about this? First off, the premise of the book is hilarious and so well executed. If you're a fan of Pride and Prejudice and the paranormal, there is no bad here. I loved all of the humor added in and regularly found myself laughing out loud. The aspects that were changed to include the zombies were brilliant and I loved that the Bennet sisters are all kick ass zombie slayers. And as my review is of the audiobook, I would be remiss if I didn't praise the narration - Katherine Kellgren was outstanding. By far one of the best audiobooks I've listened to. I usually only listen to audiobooks of books I've actually read and enjoyed, but was swayed to skip straight to the audiobook of this when I heard a sample, and I think it was definitely the right choice.

I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of Austen already and have read and re-read the original over the years. This is a great update that adds a bit more comic relief (as you think to the real events in the original). Really a book with ninja's is almost always a winner.

I can understand why this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's exactly what it says it is -- Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. Surely it's obvious that it's going to be both the original comedy of manners, along with the zombie element. What I found extraordinary was how funny it was. I found myself laughing aloud as I drove to and from work every day, and could hardly wait to get back into the car and hear what was next. It was very well done, the narration was exquisite, and now I want to re-read the original as soon as possible. I'm sure that's the reaction many people will have, so Miss Austen's original work will probably be more popular than ever. I hope there will be more similar works to come.

This is one of the few classics that lays bare the massive scourge of the undead that blighted so much of English life in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It has been stated that Austen and Grahame-Smith's works critique the novels of sensibility of the second half of the eighteenth century and are part of the transition to nineteenth-century realism, while retaining an exquisite treatment of period manners. This is especially the case in this work, where Mrs Bennet seeks advantageous marriages for her five daughters amid bloody carnage and mayhem on a scale that makes Tarantino seem like a milktoast boy scout.

All this person did was take a book in the public domain and painfully and awkwardly insert zombie and ninja references periodically. There is absolutely nothing interesting about it. The very first mention of zombies and zombie attacks is somewhat amusing, and the gag is repeated OVER AND OVER AND OVER till the end.

Anything original in this version is just a lame, mindless mutilation of the characters and the book. The new dialogue awkwardly stands out from the original text. It feels lazy and cheap. The author attempts to capture the wit and humor of Austen and instead succeeds in cheap double entendres of the word "balls"... UGGG! Were 13 year old boys consulted in this? I am really not being uptight here, and enjoy silly humor as much as anyone - but this is just flat out stupid, jarringly so when in the context of such a fun, well done classic novel.

I love Austen and I love zombie stories.... And I don't think I am alone in that. Sadly, I think people will give way more credit than is due here, because the idea itself is so very clever and appealing. The execution though is truly shocking in its awfulness.

I honestly cannot see any reason to listen to this, even with the few and far between amusing moments. It was a clever idea lazily and stupidly done. Very disappointing.
