I had read the first two Camel Club books, so the series was familiar to me. I found the change of setting in this book to be interesting. However, I must say I found the "group action" of the first two books to be part of their charm, and I found that lacking until the last part of this novel. I would, however, recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Baldacci's work.
Granted, you will have to suspend belief at some points, but wow, what a great read. Narration was excellent, the plot was engaging and, of course, the characters are great. Baldacci has done a great job with this series, we can only hope that the saga continues. Highly recommended.
I enjoy all Mr. Baldacci's books. The narrator, Mr Mclarty is very good as well.
You will all like this book if you like a good mystery, who dunnit book.
I like that he doesn't feel as though he has to cheapen his books with every detail of sex. He writes about it happening, leaves the rest to your imagination & back to the suspense. This series gives you a good background into their lives. I feel as though I've watched them grow & change over the years.
The narrator didn't try and speak as a woman. A lot of narrators' try and make their voice sound like woman's voice & it comes out badly.
So no matter your age as an adult, you'll enjoy these guys.
This was the best Oliver Stone book yet!!! I was hooked with the series after reading Baldacci's first book "The Camel Club". His characters are very real and you pull for them every step of the way. Baldacci has enough twists and turns that you mind where he takes you next. Riveting book - I was glued to my ipod. I now can't wait to see if Oliver Stone and his Camel Club will have a fifth adventure.
It was difficult for me to decide whether to give this book a rating of 3, or 4. It had an involved, on the whole interesting plot. However the hero was just too much to be believed - both incredibly honest and straight, and incredibly skilled as a warrior. The adjective incredibly means that it was just too much to be really a human being. Also there was more deep violence than I thought was really necessary. For those who love mysteries of this sort it is probably superb.
Lover of good ideas
Those familiar with the Camel Club will throughly enjoy this latest in the series by David Baldacci. It is one of the most gripping and suspenseful of the series. What I enjoyed most about this book was the character and story development, which gave you an even greater understanding of the main character Oliver Stone. As the story unfolded, you began to find our much of the back story which provided a better understanding of the man and his actions. You also saw a more sensitive and loving side of Stone, which has been hidden until he met Abigel.
For those who have followed the exploits of the Camel Club this is definitely worth the time to listen.
My son and I really enjoy all of the Camel Club stories. This one even had some humor. Can't wait for the next story.
Escaping into an entanglment rather than away from one. Oliver Stone and the Camel Club have done it, again. Double identity,Small remote, mining town and a high powered mystery and solution, nicely told. You'll like it, I did.
The Camel Club is a wonderful series with plots that are powerful and wicked. Twists and turns everywhere. These chatacters are special. This may be the end of the Camel Club which would be sad. However whatever Balacci is up to it will be on my list to read.
There has to be more than 5 Stars for this one. So many hints and surprises and an ending that leaves us wondering if we'll ever see Oliver, Annabelle, Rubin, Caleb, Abby and others again. If not I will miss them.
