The story is so boring, I can't imagine anyone enjoying it. But worst than the writing, is the voice of the narrator, it is very irritating and mono toned. I have to advise anyone not to waste your money on this audio book....
I am having trouble listening to this book. No offense to Ms. Durante, the narrator, but her lisp can be distracting. I was sorry in the beginning I used my credit. I continued to listen as I did not want to waste my credit and eventually you get used to the lisp and become more involved in the characters. All in all, not Ms. Roberts' best effort. Just okay. I am not sure if it was the narrator or content.
I love all of Nora's books but seeing some of the reviews for the narrator Emily Durante, I was hesitant. Well I loved her! She made the characters come alive and I could just "see" them as if they were in the room with me. Great job!
Colorado Springs, CO, United States I particularly enjoy romance/fantasy books, management books, and YA fiction.
Yes! I loved it! Most of my girlfriends are engaged or in serious relationships and a love story about close friends, a wedding business, and love? What more could we want?!
As much as I love Mackenzie, Laurel is definitely my favorite character. In terms of personality she is most like me.
I have not heard any other Emily Durante performances.
YES! I could not get enough of it. I listened to it in the car so I didn't get to listen to it all in one sitting, but I would have loved to!
I didn't hear the lisp other reviewers are talking about. The only complaint I have about the narrator is I wish she made more of a difference in the 4 main women characters. It was hard to tell who was speaking. Other than that though, I really enjoyed the narration. I'm glad I didn't let the negative reviews keep me from listening to this book. The story is classic Nora Roberts so it's excellent--of course. Really enjoyed this book & look forward to reading/listening the the rest of the serire.
I love witty, fast-paced books that keep you turning the page.
I have to agree with the others who didn't like this narrator. She does has a slight lisp, and it was very difficult to know which character was speaking since they all sounded so similar. Setting that aside, the book was a great listen that will have you smiling nearly the whole time. Thank GOODNESS they switched to another narrator for the rest of the series!
I've read the whole series before, but now the ability to listen in the car is really enjoyable.
I love the relationship between the girls, and the way Nora Roberts describes the wedding cakes and flowers, and weaves in drama.
I won't buy any more books that she narrates; she reads well but her voice is the same for everybody and is kindof a teenager voice. I like the narrator of the other three books a lot more!
I'm only halfway
Warm hearted love story. I enjoyed the narrator. Will listen several times which is the best I can say on any book.
The story is incredibly inane. I understand the genre is not meant to be great literature, but the characters are so incredibly cliché and uninteresting. Imagine a young professional who pushes away an amazing man because she has a bad track record with men, and then she and all her girlfriends banter about it, using sexual innuendo that sounds like junior high boys.
The relationship is propelled forward by the fallout from encounters with her narcissistic mother,
That's the book.
Feels hollow - even for hollow characters.
Frustration - how does such a bad story get published????
I have read Nora Roberts in the past, and found some guilty pleasure in it. Maybe I've outgrown that, or maybe the writing is just that bad.
