I can handle almost any narrator, but this one takes the cake as the worst. All the male voices were made to sound like idiots and all the females came off as just silly. The narration was so overwhelmingly bad the story was completely ruined. The Bride Quartet is a good change of pace to have a Nora Roberts series that stuck straight to the romance, without crime or supernatural (although I enjoy those as well).
The story is so boring, I can't imagine anyone enjoying it. But worst than the writing, is the voice of the narrator, it is very irritating and mono toned. I have to advise anyone not to waste your money on this audio book....
I am having trouble listening to this book. No offense to Ms. Durante, the narrator, but her lisp can be distracting. I was sorry in the beginning I used my credit. I continued to listen as I did not want to waste my credit and eventually you get used to the lisp and become more involved in the characters. All in all, not Ms. Roberts' best effort. Just okay. I am not sure if it was the narrator or content.
I love all of Nora's books but seeing some of the reviews for the narrator Emily Durante, I was hesitant. Well I loved her! She made the characters come alive and I could just "see" them as if they were in the room with me. Great job!
Yes! I loved it! Most of my girlfriends are engaged or in serious relationships and a love story about close friends, a wedding business, and love? What more could we want?!
As much as I love Mackenzie, Laurel is definitely my favorite character. In terms of personality she is most like me.
I have not heard any other Emily Durante performances.
YES! I could not get enough of it. I listened to it in the car so I didn't get to listen to it all in one sitting, but I would have loved to!
I was very impressed with Emily Durante's performance. Her character voices were individual and lively and made the whole book a delight.
Check out the rest of the Brides quartet. Nora Roberts does it again.
Warm, personal, engaging.
Sometimes it's hard to see what's right in front of you.
I was looking forward to another Nora Roberts Trilogy. This has got to be the worst narration ever. Grating monotone, emotionless... If this were the first Nora Roberts book I read it would have been the last. I hope the author reads this and never uses this narrator
Story line was cute
get different narrator
I loved these books so decided to buy the audio for work time, however this narrator feels sounds like she is reading from a sheet of paper instead of sounding natural. She needs some practice, not enough differentiation in the voices which are vast between the girls. Recommend, but not a great narrator.
I own the book and have read it repeatedly. I bought the audible version because Nora Roberts' story is instructive, entertaining, and loaded with riveting characters. Durante is not suited for an adult read. Laurel is a straight-shooting smart-ass who sounds like a sniveling wuss. Mac is quick-witted and erudite, but sounds like a whiner. Emma is sexy, sultry, and utterly nurturing and none of that comes out in this story. Parker is YODA and sounds like a compromising goofball. Whoever chose Emily Durante to read this made an error: She should be reading the Ramona books.
The characters are unique, defined, described, and Durante ignores all of Roberts' clues. It's shameful.
NO. Thank you, Audible; I'm going to dump this one.
Yes. I'll take advantage of Audible's return policy.
I want to believe the author had nothing to do with choosing the reader.
