I anticipated a fun love story that I would probably share with my teenage daughter. Nope. The storyline was okay, but there were three scenes in the book that I would call pornographic. It's not a book I would recommend to anyone, especially my daughter, and I wish I hadn't read or listened to it myself. This is the first book I have deleted from my library.
I like this narrator. I've just moved on to the second book, which has a different narrator and I am having a hard time adjusting.
I really enjoyed this book, the story was great and I loved the narrator. I never heard the lisp that other reviewers are talking about and enjoyed her characterizations.
Like a lot of other reviewers, I found the narrator's slight lisp distracting. Also, her voice is much higher/younger sounding than most narrators I've listened to, including many NR series. The characters are supposed to be in their early 30s, so it was a bit annoying to me.
I drive a lot and enjoy repeating some of my favorites in the car, so I thought I'd give the audio a shot. I'll finish this one b/c I love the story, but if it's the same narrator for the rest, I may not buy them.
As for the books, I LOVED them. I own all 4 in trade paperback and enjoyed all of them.
I'm a country potter, gardener, flute player and tin tinker living with my husband, an electrical engineer & cabinet maker.
I don't know what led me to think this would be a good book to purchase. I've listened to the first half and feel like I inadvertently walked through a high school chick flick wearing my jeans and T-shirt while others around me are dressed in lacy panties and spike heeled boots. While there may be other books in this series, I will not be buying them. Great that Nora Roberts has so many followers and fans and glad that she can live well from her creative work but I'm out of this.
Love Nora Roberts. Love just about anything that she's done. This narrator is absolutely awful. Listening is like nails down a chalkboard. I'm really thankful that the next books in the series are narrated by someone else.
Reading is in my DNA. Dad, Granddad and Grandma were all journalists and crazy readers. When I can't read, I listen!
Wait!! What a disappointment! I had listened to the other Bride books
before this one and (my fault) bought this one just assuming it was the same narrator. Talk about night and day...this narrator sounds like she is about fourteen and all the characters come off sounding like they are pre-teens as
well. Good book, poor choice of narrator...
This is the type of book that gives romance novels a bad name. Full of cliches, gooey unreal dialogue and unbelievable, unconvincing sex scenes. Often just plain boring to listen to! Well read by Emily, I wondered how she felt about reading such tripe!
couldn't keep up with all the jumping around . not at all what i expected. i thought this was about wedding planners but couldn't figure this out.
