couldn't keep up with all the jumping around . not at all what i expected. i thought this was about wedding planners but couldn't figure this out.
If this was the only Nora Roberts book I had ever listened to I wouldn't listen to any others... I didn't think the narrator was as bad as some of the other reviews - she wasn't the best, but certainly not the worst I've heard. That said, the caracters in the book were vapid and the plot was non-existent! Not worth it even on sale!
I have never left a negative review but I feel I should warn listeners. The book is probably good, I like Nora Roberts, but the narrator has a severe lipse. I found myself just hearing the lipse and had a hard time focusing on the story. I will have to actually read the book since the narrator is unbearable.
really Nora? Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors, but this was so bad I didn't even finish! First the narrator has a lisp, second the story is terrible! The female lead is vapid and the male is such dork that there doesn't see to be any qualities that make a romance possible. The plot is boring as well, it seems like this wasn't even written by Nora, very disappointing.
I just finished listening to Nora Roberts trilogy beginning with the book Morrigan's Cross with the superb narration of Dick Hill. It was a completely satisfying experience both with the epic saga of Ms Robert's story and the many skilled "voices" of Mr Hill. Beginning Vision in White was a jarring change due to Ms Durante's the weakly portrayed male voices and the trite plot device of the whinny parent. One of the few Audible books I didn't bother to finish.
loved this book--like how she winds her stories around several characters--keeps me looking for that next book
Agree - not one of her best and the narrator is so annoying it is all I can do to keep listening and I have just really started this one. The lisp isn't the problem so much as she's kinda monotone alot.
I almost didn't choose this title despite being a Nora Roberts fan because of the comments from other reviewers about the narrator having a lisp. I majored in speech in college and thought it would drive me nuts. What a pleasant surprise to find no major fault with the narration. Even trying to listen for it I didn't hear the dreaded lisp. This was a fun listen with characters who I look forward to hearing about again in rest of the series.
I don't have a problem with the narrator. She isn't as good as some I've listened to, but she isn't so bad that I have to shut it off (and I have a couple of books like that in my personal library). While I'm interested enough to keep listening to find out more about the characters, I don't like the cute little code they use. MOB. CBBM. MOG. MOH. Give me a break! If I walked into a room to find people talking like that, I would turn around and walk back out. Teenage kids might talk like that, but adults don't.
If I have to stop listening so I can write the letters down to try to figure out what they might stand for, you are detracting from the story, not enhancing it or the characters.
I bought this today, hoping that I could look past the lisp that others had described in their reviews. It is the worst narration I have heard. She has no difference in character voices, and the lisp is horrible. It is EXTREMELY disctracting, and actually makes me want to quit listening. To me, she sounds drunk. I do like most of NR's books, but this story is lacking. Dont waste your time or money.
