This was an excellent alien invasion story that doesn't go too far out. While it bordered a little too much on the violent side - bad things happen to some characters - and I didn't find a charcater to relate to, the story seemed real and made you think. Not my favorite, but I am glad I listened.
This book is really fun to listen to. It is tightly written and well narrated. The plot is well developed and the characters are complex. Best of all, this is an original piece of fiction. I do love finding something that is unpredictable and this was. Enjoy this interesting view of Earth, humans and the universe we inhabit.
This book was ok for me. It moved along at a good pace and was not completely unbelieveable. the ending of the book kind of leaves you saying what the hell. For a book to be great for me the ending has to leave me as excited or interested as the rest of the book. When you get kind of left there it really takes away from the adventure.
An avid audiobook reader favoring hard boiled fiction, and biographies and memoirs.
The Grays is an exciting and well-paced yarn that projects an alien race with a burned out DNA makeup speeding to earth en masse to glom our relatively fresh and un-engineered genetic matter. As these things go, it's a plausable story. The only disappointment was the ending which is abrupt and leaves many loose ends. Would make a good movie.
Would make a great movie. This book reads like a movie as if thats what he was shooting for.
It seems kind of short and it takes a while for the book to get to full speed. Just as it does the book ends. Maybe a sequil someday? (hope so)
Say something about yourself!
I love the reader and the ETness of the book. I was not expecting such a great listen but after about 2 min I was hooked. What a great suprise.
The author came up with some reasonably inventive stuff, but it is drowned out by the somewhat inane and predictable storyline. At certain parts, the story reads like a cheap romance.
I'm a big fan of the overnight radio show "Coast to Coast". If you are too, you'll probably enjoy this novel. I didn't like the narrator. His voice was just not a good fit, but after I got into the story, it didn't matter so much. I listened to this while driving late at night where I couldn't get my favorite late-night show and this helped the miles fly by.
This book is great. We sat in our car outside a hotel in 12 degree weather not to miss a word until the chapter ended! It was like this chapter after chapter.
If you've ever thought there might be aliens, the grays will cement it for you!
A great blend of science and fiction with the inclusion of scientific knowlege and theory into a great story. Read by a master.
