It was very calming
Realizing that the one song sounds like Pachabelle... which I hate. Oy
Yep definitely, she's awesome
I felt relaxed but bewildered by the 80s synth music
Pleasant background music, great affirmations - good start for those of us who have trouble "thinking up" our own affirmations.
There is a nice little section that relates to self love that I enjoyed.
Yes I have. I think this is comparable to others I have listened to. I like the way she gives the affirmations with I and You.
It's just a very nice listen to start a day on an upbeat or to soothe yourself down from the end of the day.
I have yet to find another author's who inspires me so much.
I listen to the last part most of the time. That part is simply the "music" with the positive messages you can't hear. In fact, the only time I listened to the first part where you can hear her speak was my first listening. Since then, I only listen to the music part. Whether or not it's all in my head or this actually works, listening to it makes me feel better and have a better day. The music isn't all that great or impressive, but it's not annoying (to me). It's acceptable.
I found this audio boring and not very powerful. While it has many good affirmations they are all short simple one sentence affirmations said in the I version then repeated in the you version. I really did not feel any power, passion or enthusiasm in the speakers voice.
The book is pure repetition essentially repeating I and you phrases for 30 minutes then followed by 30 minutes of chiming music. Maybe I'm just blind to seeing everything else that the other reviews saws, but the music sounds like something out of a bad 1970's show in the midst of a make-out scene. Can I get a refund? I can't listen to this without thinking about Jamie Summers and the Million Dollar Man running in for a romantic kiss. Great... now my self-esteem has just dropped some more after buying this audiobook. Refund please.
ummm... I'm not sure. I would be willing to try others.
All of them... This made me crazy. I was having a hard time getting into the I and you phrases repeated for 30 minutes and the music was outdated and really bad.
Can I have a refund
I am respected by others, I have wonderful loving relationships, I am a gift to the world ... There is no doubt that these are all wonderful thoughts. But what if they are not true? What this sort of affirmation does is encourage you to block out feedback from the outside world, feedback you need to improve as a person, and replace it with feel-good fantasy.
If you are a rude and ignorant person, telling yourself that you are loved and respected by everyone isn't going to help you improve. In fact, your self esteem will probably be worse off when someone tells you to your face that you are a pretentious [insert naughty word here]!!
The "even if" format keeps you in touch with reality. "I completely love/accept myself, even if I'm not respected by everyone." Feel good about yourself without becoming delusional.
